HIV Risk and Concerns

I had receptive anal sex which was protected with a person I did not know on December 2nd. We also had mutual oral sex. During the sex the guy mentioned that the condom broke when he was adjusting it when we were changing position. I pointedly asked him if I was compromised and he said no, it just tore near the top and I was not compromised. About a week and a half later I noticed swelling in my groin primarily, possible also in my armpits, but I'm not sure about that. I also had a persistent sore throat. I felt fine otherwise, but the swelling was annoying. I went to my doctor about a month after and had the standard STD tests which were all negative. I did continue to have a persistent sore throat for which my doctor prescribed a couple of weeks of antibiotics. The sore throat persisted and I mild thrush for which my doctor prescribed flucozanole which seemed to help. I am very concerned now because my groin swelling persists and my underarms feel a bit swollen also at about 2 months post. I have have had tests:

PCR DNA HIV test at 30 days - negative
Elisa HIV 1/0/2 antibody test at 30 days - negative
Additional HIV antibody test at 8 weeks - negative
additional PCR DNA test at 8 weeks - negative

Note, I also contacted the person with whom I had sex with and he agreed to go with me to a clinic to have a rapid HIV antibody test at 7 weeks and he was negative.

My concern now is that I have had lymph symptoms (small inflamed slightly painful pea sized lymph nodes in the groin -- really more upper inner thigh) and had mild thrush post antibiotics. I have not had fever or rash at all.

What are your opinions on my testing described above in terms of conclusiveness? I am very worried and I appreciate your feedback.

Regards

I'm not sure what to do now. My boss called me into his office and mentioned how he could tell I was not "right". He suggested I take some sick time for the remainder of this week and next week if I need it. I agreed at least for this week. He asked what was wrong and I answered with the truth that I do not know. I am having a lot of difficulty making it through the work day. My job requires me to be  quick and responsive mentally, and I have just not felt right since this issue started and I am tired a lot. I am home today.

I'm not sure why I am posting this but I see no way out. I have real symptoms with fatigue which are preventing me from doing my job right. The swelling is bothering me constantly. I am seriously considering suicide at this time. I know this sounds like an over-reaction, but I don't see a way out. I wish I could at least see a real expert in the field to evaluate me.

The clinic I visited also ordered a pcr RNA quantitative test which came back today as non-detected. They seem to think this might be LGV and they are putting me on antibiotics, but I am not sure. Very worried here.

Thank you for your response. The scary part in addition that I did not have space to write about is that my significant other and I only have oral sex but he got a strong attack of a flu like illness and gerd a few weeks after all of this and he still is always tired and not back to normal over a month later. He did go and get an antibody test at about 6 weeks which was negative. I am really scared that I infected him when I was newly infected via oral sex. I have a lot of guilt and am very scared. I realize that nothing is definite yet, but this situation of my own doing is causing me tremendous worry.

Thank you for your response.

Hello,
Bearing in mind that your sexual partner was negative after 7 weeks together with all your negative test results, would indicate that he was not positive and hence that you did not get infected.  I would consider all these test results conclusive in your case.  Most HIV antibody tests can be considered conclusive after 8 weeks anyway.
Have you been tested for other STIs in your throat and in your anus as the symptoms that you have been experiencing might have been caused by this?
Best wisehs,
Dr Jose
