Worried About Hiv Exposure

Hi Doctor
Im a 22 year old Male from the United Kingdom.
11 Days ago i had a possible HIV exposure [ maybe low risk but still worried ]

I had unprotected oral sex with another male and protected anal sex (did not receive) The male was a stranger so i am unsure of there sexual health.

Started off with some burning feeling in the mouth and tounge and had white spots on my toncills after a couple of days, Thats when my worry started to occur.
I visited the doctor about this and they said it was Toncill Stones and i had a bit of a viral infection.
The white spots have now gone, However as the days have gone on i've been getting more and more aches and pains in my legs and arms especially ankles and calfs, I occasionally get pain in my armpit.
I often feel the need to go to the toilet but when i do its often a very small amount of stool and it is a little bit wet.

Im feeling tired alot of the time, Im extremley worried and dont know if this pain is caused purley by my worry about it or if indeed they are symptoms of HIV exposure, I have been told this is most likley anxiety because you cannot get HIV from oral sex however i saw on the BUPA website ( UK'S PRIVATE HEALTH COMPANY ) that 6 in every 100 people with HIV get it from oral sex, This has made me absolutly terrified that i may have HIV. It's got to the point where i cannot concentrate on much else and am finding it hard to go to work etc....
Please Help.

Hi
In regards to the sucking, i did both however they did not ejaculate in my mouth, I am worried as the pain in my legs is getting worse and more constant.

Hello

You don't comment on whether you were the sucker or the sucked or both.

If the sucked then there is no risk.

If the sucker and the other male was a newly infected HIV positive who ejaculated into your mouth then there is a faint - very faint - possibility that may have put you at risk.

I do not believe so.

I flatly reject the idea that oral sex results in 6% of HIV infections in the UK - completely contradict it and do not recognise it as anything approaching reasonable fact. The rate for unprotected penetrative vaginal sex is around 1 in 1200 or so. The rate for receptive anal intercourse without protection with a known HIV positive male is around 3 or 4 out of every hundred.

There was, in the distant past, a very poor study reported from the USA which supposedly showed an HIV infection rate of 7% through oral sex. The study was fatally flawed and withdrawn. I imagine this is what has led to the statement you quote.

I do not belive on the information you have supplied that you were exposed or that you contracted HIV.

best regards, Sean
