Hi,
Seven and a half weeks ago I had an intense drunken makeout session with a guy I had just met. We deeply kissed on and off over the course of 2-3 hours and I accidentally gave him a hickey on his neck. We did not sleep together and his pants were on the entire time but he did perform oral sex on me for about one minute. I stopped him though because I did not feel comfortable. I know absolutely nothing about the guy's history.
At 11 days, I took a DNA PCR HIV test. It came back negative.
At 26 days, I had HIV antibody test which came back negative.
I have noticed tiny red dots appearing on my skin (a few scattered ones on my upper arms and some on my legs) which my derm told me were not petechiae and were normal but I've seen been seeing more of them and am concerned because they look like tiny bleeds under my skin (but I know my platelets are normal - see below).
My lymph nodes have felt swollen and at my annual physical this past week my doc said my superficial neck lymph nodes were swollen but others were fine (she didn't check my armpits though and not sure if she checked my groin). My bloodwork from my physical came back and it was perfect (drawn at 6 and a half weeks after that night).
Do I still need to be concerned about HIV?
I read that risk of transmission from receiving oral sex is very low and that risk from kissing is only a theoretical risk but the kissing was intense and I had read about the possibility of "microscopic cuts", etc.
How much relief can I get from the negative DNA PCR test at 11 days, the negative antibody test at 26 days and the perfect bloodwork (CBC, liver, kidney, etc. all within range) at about 6 and a half weeks? Can I finally put this nightmare behind me or do you recommend I re-test at three months?
This fear has taken over so many aspects of my life and it's been affecting my relationship with my boyfriend and my family and has distracted me from work and school. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
