Help Friend w PCP pneumonia in hospital

I have a very close friend in the hospital w PCP pneumonia and he is not doing well at all. He has been in the hospital for 3 weeks and just recently found out HIV pos. Can anyone tell me what to expect, will he make it through this? He is unconsious and not eating. Can someone give me some input please. i am also a nurse however i have limited experience in this field. Please help

Not being on a vent is a good sign meaning he's holding his own. As you know what they will have to watch is him contracting another OI on top of having PCP. There are several different atbs that they can use if they see he's not responding. I wish him well.

no he is not on a vent! I figured as much. What is the chance of any recovery? Thank you sooooo much for the response. right now no response w the atbs.

No he found out that he has AIDS.. Is he on a ventilator? Just pray the antibiotics work. He'll have a rough way to go. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
