here's Doc Bob's Response

Hello Everyone

I would like to thank everyone in this forum for being so supportive in this forum. you guys are really doing a wonderful job helping out people with Their problems during the darkest days of there lives.

My name is Joe I had a high risk exposure 2 months unprotected vaginal sex with a CSW which didnt know about her HIV status. it lasted for almost 1hr and 45 minutes. I really had no idea or knowledge about HIV. 3 days after my exposure I felt a sudden weakness all over my body and burning sensation on both palms hands and on my left foot. Ive consulted my MD and he told me to have a CBC,urinalysis, and HIV test. All came out fine. 3 weeks had past more symptoms keep coming out:

My symptoms

1.. Coated Tongue ( I think it oral Thrush) had it ever since 2. Burning sensations (palms of both my hands and palm of my left foot) 3. 2 types of Rashs - Visible ones looks like pimples with small pus like lesion and they hurts when you touch them located in my forearm, inner thigh, and neck - The other type of rash not very visible but when you put it in direct sunlight you could see them they dont itch 4. Swollen lymph node on my Chin, left and right jaw and my right underarm not visible but you could feel them like size of marbles. 5. Troath Issues not sure if its a sore throat because they only hurt when I drink carbonated sodas 6. Stuffy nose 7. Dry Cough now with phlegm 8. Tiredness every afternoon 9. Occasional sight Blurredness left and right 10. Diarrhea ( not always )

I never had fever throughout the beginning.

Here are my test results

2 weeks Intec HIV Rapid Test Negative 3 weeks Intec HIV Rapid Test Negative 6 weeks Intec HIV Rapid Test Negative 7 weeks Intec HIV Rapid Test Negative 4 weeks Syphilis blood Test Negative Urinalysis 0 Bacteria

Im pretty alright right now just having Skin issues that why my M.D. prescribed me with Antiviral and antibiotics medication for my skin issue problem, although my lymph nodes in my neck and underarm are still present which still scares me a lot sometimes. Would my medication interfere with my 13 weeks test? Just kind of worried if it would interfere I would get a false result. Second what are my chances on my 13 weeks test after all the test Ive been through? I just need your kind and honest opinions on this please help me out.

Thank you very much for time

Dave

  Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi Joe,

I'm always a bit shocked when a sexually active person writes in and tells me "I really had no idea or knowledge about HIV!!!" How could that be? Are you an alien who has only recently been transported here from the former planet Pluto? Or perhaps you've been in a coma for the past quarter century so you've never heard about the HIV/AIDS pandemic that has been ravaging the world for the past 26 years, killing over 25 million people and infecting over 65 million since it was first recognized in the early 1980s. However, more likely you are just a victim of Dubya's "abstinence-only" sex education program or perhaps some type of religious-based home schooling program.

Here are the basic facts related to your current situation:

1. Unprotected sex does place you at some degree of risk for STDs, including HIV. Consequently, testing is warranted.

2. Your symptoms are not worrisome for HIV ARS (acute retroviral syndrome).

3. Your HIV-antibody tests to date are not conclusive, because they were taken during the three-month window period. Your 13-week test will provide you with a definitive result.

4. I have no way of knowing what "antiviral and antibiotic medication" your physician prescribed for you; however, these medications should not have any effect on HIV-antibody tests.

Dave, I strongly urge you to take advantage of the wealth of information on this site, in its archives and on the related links. It appears you have much to learn about STDs and HIV, HIV prevention and HIV transmission. Get informed, stay safe (use a latex condom and water-based lubricant) and stay well.

Thanks for your donation to The Robert James Frascino AIDS Foundation. Donation information can be found on the foundation's website at www.concertedeffort.org. In return I'm sending you my good-luck karma that your definitive three-month test remains negative. I strongly believe it will.

Good luck.

Dr. Bob

HIV24 is not Doctor BOb... what everybody is trying to say is that the norm for the body to create antibodies is 3 months or 12 weeks.. your 11 week result is very engouraging but not conclusive... what he means is practically this:

because the old testing guideline for HIV is 6 moths, if you tested on the 3 month mark and get a negative result your option testing on the 6 month is still open for absolute certainty.

Yeah, I'm sure Dr. Bob has nothing better to do...
"HIV 24" does sound a little like a fraud - but I have not seen him say anything outrageously wrong as of yet.
I don't see much of a point in tracing his IP though - what does that tell anyone?
He could be a janitor posting from a hospital computer.
Or he could be a doctor posting from home.
Not that I'm criticizing the admin, I just don't get it - the IP will not tell them his credentials...

Nothing magical happens on the 12th week, relax, you're as negative as can be.
You're wasting your time on HIV tests, in my opinion.

Hello,

I don't really know if you know this or not but English isn't my mother tongue. I always like to read about HIV in English so I can express myself well when I go to conferences or meetings..etc.

I learned many expressions from so many websites. I'm sorry if that made you think that I'm somone else.

Actually, I joined this forum because someone on the same network was asking questions here. When he told me about his posts, I decided to join. I also answered his questions and told him he could ask me instead of posting questions. I don't even know what his nickname is.

That's all..

Your negative 11-week test is very encouraging; however, as you know, antibody tests taken prior to the three-month mark are not considered conclusive or definitive.

I don't really think that it's hard to wait one week more and get what I surely expect to be a negative result..

Good luck.
