12 weeks/ 84 days OR 3 Months/ 90 days HIV testing

CDC informed the public of 3 months from possible exposure HIV testing. Which one is the 3 months CDC informed? Is it the 12 weeks/ 84 days (example: Exposure; August 19, 2010, testing: November 11, 2010) or the 90 days format (example: Exposure; August 19, 2010, testing: November 19, 2010)?

Please respond. I took another HIV antibody test last October 19, 2010 (61 days after the possible exposure). It was non-reactive. Additional question: Do I still have to test either November 11 or 19, 2010 for a conclusive HIV test?

That is a question that requires a very long introduction for a specific answer. HIV testings are not exactly the same worldwide. Each countries has there own specific guidelines inregards to testings, Obviously those who devised and approved these guidelines have enough data to support their recommendations.

I'm not here to say / judge one's guidelines compared to others. Ok, If someone calculates 3 months as 84 days versus 90 days, does that mean that his calculation is right and conclusive compare to the other one? If someone is ok with the 84 days result what about a negative in 83 days?....If experts here says 83 days is conclusive then I'm sure there will be someone would be asking for 82.5 days result.....

You always has the option where to believe but the fact still remains that wherever you are, whatever calculations you do - still the 3 months mark remains the Golden standard.

U.S. uses 13 weeks...everyone else uses 12.   crazy i know...but it is what it is.

84 days would be considered conclusive.

I don't think anyone doubts 3 months being the mark but I think the confusion stems from What 3 months is 84 days or 90

There should be no much difference between 84 or 90 days. Perhaps for psychological resons wait until the 19. But wait for others to answer your question.

61 days would be nearly 9 weeks that's s great indication.  3 months is conclusive. I'm not That knowledgeable but I don't think there's much of a difference in 84 to 90 days I'd wait for one of the more knowledgable people to answer though
