15 weeks to early to tell?

I had unprotected anal sex with my partner. About 15 weeks after our last encounter I decided to get a hiv test so I would know if i had anything or not since not knowing conclusively was starting to bother me. (long story) The test came back negative. (yay)

My question is should I be ok with this? Obviously I am happy about the negative result but is it too early to get a conclusive result at 15 weeks? 6 months gets tossed around allot online so I'm just wondering. Thanks in advance.
