Window period stands as 3 months or 6 month
others advicing 3 n others 6 months.....
Please answer me this.....i hv been reading alot in net....few forums say 3 months n then u shud continue till 6months testing...the reason said is...the type of risk.....

No it does not depend on what ones risk was. Your counselor is misguided and not up to date on HIV tests and testing.
i respect ur answer but it depends upon what is ones risk and what type of test he is taking.
My counsellor who works in a govt. hospital, under national aids, who advised me for 6 months test, there may be some reason behind it.????

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
