Please help

Hi. I had unprotected sex with a femal sex worker in an Australian brothel last Tuesday 5/4. It was not my idea, I thought that she would put the condom on, but she just hopped on. This Saturday (9/4)morning  I awoke with a sore throat & throughout the day felt chills & clamy. This morning (Sunday) I awoke & my sore throat had eased, but I have continued to feel hot & cold. I have not had a fever as yet, the hottest that I have been is 37.4. As soon as I had finished having sex, I told the woman how scared I was & she told me that she was clear, however she did start to cry, which has got me really worried.  I have been back to the brothel & been told that she was clean up until her last check, which was on 29th of January. She is due to provide her latest results on Tuesday, so I have to wait until then.  My questions are ...can ars symptoms appear within 84 hours? Is it possible? Does the fever come first? Do any of my symptoms sound like early hiv? I am literally terrified, so any help that anyone could provide would be amazing.

Hello Basil,

Listen man, from what you describe you had unprotected sex with a sex worker that is told to be often checked for std's including HIV.
The risk that you picked one being HIV + is pretty low...
and even if she is HIV + the risk for you to catch it is again pretty low... but not 0 of course. So I suggest you to forget about the symptoms immediately because they say nothing about your HIV status, and especially the 1 week, nobody will experience ARS.
ARS will be experienced by some, not by others, and if it is to be experienced it will be from 15 to 30 days most of the time. A lot of people think they are experiencing ARS and have all the symptoms one could think of, and still test negative at 3 month +.

So hold on tight, test with a duo at 28 days for a very very good indication of your status, and re test for 100% peace of mind at 3 month.

All the best
