You answered your question yourself. As in the first response, I said, by un necessary net surfing we misunderstand many things related to core medical know how, therefore it is not us, but the doctors who to decide what is needed.
I suggested you only to get your worries eliminated if you were that concerned. I have no doubts on responsibility of your wife and competence of the doctor. Let the doctors find what is the reason and they will let you know once they find.
not sure what you want from this forum.
if your wife has had NO exposure to hiv, through the above explained risks, then she does NOT have hiv.
your wife should continue to work with her dr to find the cause.
My wife is a very responsible person and she is being treated by a very competent Dr. I am certain that if an HIV test is the next step to determine the cause of the infection they would schedule one. They dont need me to be telling them something that appears so obvious and could have such dire consequences, medically and emotionally.
No ! HIV antibodies wont show up in TB test. Get an HIV test done for your wife and lay all your worries to rest permanently. If she turn out to be an HIV negative, there is no way she can develop AIDS
Antibodies will not show up on TB test, only on HIV test
As far as I know the only tets she hasd had has been the TB test which proved negative. I do not know if she has been asked to take an HIV test.
Would the HIV antibodies have shown up on the TB test?
Forgive me but I am still unclear. Can the appearance of the ACID FAST bacterium be an early indication of an HIV infection?
Thanks
My reference to Acid Fast was not a diagnosis. As I stated on my previous post, I was making reference to your question and if you had any concerns then you would need to take a HIV test.
What I have provided you with is NOT medical information, but an answer to solve your query and as Diver pointed out, expect a negative.
Hope this has cleared things up.
HSV-1 is something that most of us have and probably has nothing to do with this. HIV is transmitted with unprotected anal / vaginal sex with a positive person and among IV users who share needles. If this is not occurred, you can take a test and expect a negative result.
Un necessary net surfing by non medical people for medical information is sometime misunderstood because we are not qualified medical professionals.
Believe your wife what she said. If her HIV test is negative, by no means it can be considered at a "precursor" to AIDS, because for progression of HIV into AIDS, one must have HIV virus and its antibodies present in his/her serum.
Genesisi,
The last time I had unprotected sex, with other than my wife was about 40 37 years ago. I have never used intravenous drugs.
My wife claims that I am the only man she has ever had sex with, ever. She does not use IV drugs either.
Your answer seems to imply that the ACID FAST bacterium could be indicative of an HIV infecton. If so, wouldn't my wife's Dr. have inquired about the number os sex partners she may have hadm as well as, cautioned her about infecting me?
Any connection between Acid Fast and HIV can only be confirmed with a HIV test.
I would recommend that you both test for HIV, ONLY if you have reason to believe you should - i.e. multiple unprotected partners in your past(s) or you have used Intravenious drugs.
Let me know how you get on,
Best wishes
