ARS - Fever, rash

Dear experts and doctors, I am reaching your help in Asia. The website is so famous in asia and you are doing amazing job here. This is my first time signed up an account and ask for help, cuz I could not sleep or concentrate on anthing else. Here's what happened.

- Unprotected sex happened August 5-10, 2014. (sorry can not remember exact date)

- About two weeks later, fever started, with toothache. Fever lasted about 8 days and toothache about 12 days;

- Early September, When fever and toothache DISAPPEARED (maybe a little bit left), terrible rash began, red circles, spread over faces and arms and body, not itchy. Went to doctors and tried antibiotics etc, didn't help. The situation lasted for about 3 weeks.

- October and November, after 3 weeks of terrible rash, it's getting better, began to feel little bit itchy all over body, but rash with red circles are less.

To summarize, fever started 2 weeks after sex activity, lasted 8-10 days (medium fever, not too high, about 101). When fever is getting much better and began to dissapear, rash began. first 3 weeks was terrible, and from 4th week to now (2 months), rash better, bean itchy, still apparent can be seen by eys.

Doctors and volunteers, my english is poor so I used a lot of words to describe in order for you to understand what was the situation. Sorry about that.

My questions are: 1, from my search results from previous post, fever and harsh are usually come together? and also disappear together? But how about my case? fever started first and 7-10 days later, harsh started and then fever began to disappear. How about the time gap? Is that also highly risk?

2. I know the ARS lasted normally 2-4 weeks. But my rash was terrible (not itchy) for 3 weeks, that matches. But next 1- 2 following months, still have symptons, looks better by eye, but felt itchy. How about this?? Can also be treated as ARS rash?

I understand symptons are not reliable for diagonose purpose. but still have pattern to study and follow.

Teak,LIZZIE LOU,nursegirl, and all doctors and experts, could you all kindly help me and I have been in this for about 3 months now. Greatest appreciation.

If you decided to keep yourself confused in symptoms, I can not help. Symptoms do not mean much and in most of the cases, misleading.

Thanks I am currently working out of town and will get tested in jan or Feb after go back. I am not using the judgement on my symptoms for a dignose.

Just after read a lot of posts on symptoms, found mine seems has no similar case. So become curious.

Just talking about the fact, For most of ARS , fever rash seem to come and go together, but mine fever comes 7 days earlier than rash. And rash (no itchy) lasts one month and much better rash (itchy) continues. How about that?

Could anyone just let me know if the described symptoms are typical ARS or not?

Symptoms are misleading and your symptoms are not  at all (at all!...low fever)... indicative of infection.
A garden variety  Ab test now (3months post exposure) will reveal your status,
There is no need to agonize any further.

hi doctors, there are also a lot of ppl just talking about sympons and Ted or other people can speak for sure that is not ARS.

I will go to have a test later after come back to home country next year

So could anyone here just take a look at my symptons, and let me know if that matches with ARS. I am not saying to self diagnose based on this.

Could you please help Ted or Lizzie?

Thanks! I understand that only certain diagnose can be obtained from testing.

But just wondering about the fact, whether fever and rash can not come together, fever comes a week or so earlier. And can rash last for that long.

Thanks all that can be any help on this.

Why do you rate sex workers that way? They are more knowledgeable than us about the risks because their exposure is more frequent, therefore they are even more careful. It is not necessary that one gets the infection from a sex worker only... Any act of unprotected vaginal or anal sex with anyone of unknown status puts us at risk. And the only way of knowing our post exposure status conclusively, is a test. Period. I can not say anything more on this

Hi diver58, thanks! The reason why I did not take a test in the first place is that it was not with sex workers, just with someone I think has some complicated history.
And I read a lot about the symptoms, i.e. ARS appears 3 months after unsafe sex, will be ruled out since it’s too long, or low temp fever for just 3 days is too short etc.
So I want to know if my symptoms described above matches the ARS patterns or not? As my situation seems not that typical.

Instead of paying attention on symptoms, go and get yourself tested to HIV antibody, collect your conclusive report and move on with your life. You had unprotected sex, so you are at risk and the only way to rule out the possibility of the infection is, a test.

One correction.....sorry, just checked my notes, after 3 weeks' rash, MOST are gone. I mean those rash with red skin, red circles are disappeared. Looks almost fine by eyes. but feel itchy. Lasted 2 months as of now.
