ARS concerns...
Five days ago, I had unprotected oral sex and protected anal sex (both as a top and a bottom) with no condom problems. I was admittedly quite drunk and had also taken poppers. The following morning I woke up with a dry, brown patch of skin next to my mouth. It was not a cold sore, simply a patch of drier, significantly darker skin. Over the past several days, this has disappeared without any open sore or the like.
On the second day, I developed a fever, sore throat and really swollen glands (I presumed them to be my tonsils given a history of strep throat). After having gone to my doctor, who told me I had an infection in my tonsils (however, no strep test was conducted) and prescribed me an antibiotic, the fever and soreness in my throat subsided. However, after having been on the antibiotics for 3 days now, my neck glands (again, I assume my tonsils) still remain really swollen. I have also been having loose stools and intense night sweats the past 2 days/nights in which my sheets become really wet.
I admit to being a complete hypochondriac and a lot of literature contradicts my having any sign of ars; however, I am nevertheless uneasy about it all and am seeking help in determining whether or not I should get a PCR test (costly) or simply wait for the ELISA test after its respective window period.

It would matter what you said, if you had the knowledge to back you up instead of your opinions. You can stand behind everything you say all you want but what you say is not "scientific fact", they are always your opinions.
You should have been a politician because you sure know how to spin things man. I have friends and relatives who are addicted to various $hit, your fail to separate the person from the disease EVERY TIME BRO'. Would i like my friends and relatives better free of, that's a big A$$ YES! But i accept them as they are, don't split hairs with me man. I stand behind everything i say, and have said in the past, those areas that i've been wrong, i've admitted my wrongfulness and have been man enough to admit it. Nobody is perfect and EVERYONE grows everyday, that's that. You are very one dimensional sometimes my friend, humorless and your personalty leaves something to be desired on occasion. Just because a person has a disease and yes addiction is a disease would not prevent me as having them for a friend. I feel sorry for your gay and lesbian friends because they don't know the real you. Too bad that they can't read your replies. I doubt that you would have them as friends for long.
A world without addicts is everyone's ideal, not just mine...do you want an addict for a child, friend -or- relative, ect...not a chance you want this. As for homosexuals i could care less, as i've said i have many friends who are gay and lesbian, no problems...You have a chip on your shoulder my friend, admit it, you have labeled me wrongly and you know it...

HIV is no joke bro', it's as serious as your life when it comes down to it...it's inevitable these choices will result in eventual hiv+ future prospects.
Although the sex acts were protected your lifestyle is very, very high risk-anal intercourse-penetrating & being penetrated anally/ high risk partners/poppers-which actually increase your risk of contracting hiv. We all know condoms offer protection against hiv, but i'd like you to take away that a condom is not an all access pass that allows you to engage in some of the riskiest behaviors possible. Read your box of condoms my friend, you will find a disclaimer -not recc for anal intercourse-meaning it's basically offering you protection @ a lower % than those who are using them in vaginal and oral situations. A good rule of thumb, ask yourself, would you do any of these things mentioned w/o a condom man? Not a chance Wein22 , that's a lot of red flags, your activities leave you with no room for error, re-evaluate what you want outta life.

As long as you continue to have protected sex, you aren't anymore at risk than anyone else.

Point is - keep having that anal sex on poppers and you will get HIV sooner or later, if you didn't get it already. Just ask Teak, he knows all about this. If you don't make lifestyle changes, better get good health insurance.

You were never at risk. You used protection. Keep using the condoms with plenty of water base lube.
This is too early to be ARS, at least from this incident. If this is ARS, this is from something you did a month ago. Definitely get tested for HIV. A person with your lifestyle should get tested for HIV at least once a year. And yes - you are putting yourself at high risk for HIV with your lifestyle.
