ARS symptoms

On 10/4/12 I had unprotected sex with a woman, on 10/14/12 I woke up and my uvula was swollen had a white tip on it and the glands behind my bottom jaw (BOTH GLANDS) were white.  I went to the doctor and he said it was Pharyngitis, (Although I did not have a sore throat, my throat was just swollen) he prescribed me zpack and some steroid to get rid of the inflamation, (Keep in mind I never had a fever, chills, rash, Lymph Node swelling etc.)  Well I took the prescribed medicine and the Pharyngitis went away within 2 days completely.  As of 10/25/12 I have had no symptoms of ARS.  The Pharyngitis was the only thing and that was knocked out two weeks ago. Any Ideas?????????????

Hey there,

Symptoms are not used to diagnose HIV, only testing does though, so here it goes:

1) get an HIV Duo test at 4-6 weeks ( 99.89% accurate) or 6 weeks HIV Elisa test (95 - 98 % accurate), that will give you an idea of your status

2) follow up with a final test at 12 weeks mark with any approved test.

3) test for other STDs

It is mind boggling how many people are having unprotected sex and not considering future consequence. Being pragmatic about sex life will lead to healthy lifestyle.

Please consider taking elisa test and as Lizz said six to eight week will be a good indication of result.

the only way to know one's hiv status is by testing.  symptoms don't diagnose you.

if someone experiences ars symptoms...they come at 2-4 weeks post infect and last for 1-2 WEEKS.

a duo test at 28 days or an antibody test at 6-8 weeks will give you a great indication of your status.  either test will need to be followed up at 3 months for a conclusive result.
