After 30 months

Dear Doctor,
I had a risky( not so high)encounter -unprotected sex with a status not known Indian woman-in October 2005.I am 42 year old Indian working in Middle East .
In November I had a flu like symptom from where i got freaked , I was going through a lot mental deprssions, pressure . My marriage was on doledrums because of this and that also added to lot of mental stress that i had to take antidepressants and other medications . All this time fear of being HIV always haunted with Vague symptoms .I have undergone Elisa , P24 antigen tests , HIV duo test( 3 months . six months & one year) , Western blot( after 0ne year 2006 Nov) . Elisa in July 2007 - ALL TEST NEGATIVE.
However as a final I tested Elisa 3rd generation last week 2008Aug.That also NEGATIVE .

My problem- when i tested this time out of fear I asked to test for CD4 count also and the resulted count is 225.CD4 % is 36.Platelets are 114000 to 137000( in two diffrent tests). Lymphocytes 17% only . SGPT is 89. These results have now put me into a totally new scare. Am i progressing to AIDS? Howcome that all these tests are negative and CD4 count is 225?I dont have any other remarkable symptoms.

When i tested this CD4 Iwas on a onset of fever and bodypain( first time in this 2.5 years) and had started antibiotics after this test only .Fever was for one day only and doctor had said I had a small chest infection and hence prescribed 4 days ( 500mg x 4days) antibiotic.

I have not discussed my CD4 report with any doctors and i am freaked . What I should do ? is it common to have reduced CD4 for a HIV negative person at onset of a viral or infectious fever? What are the possibilities that i am infected .Is PCR advisable. I have heard that PCR some times give false positive .

Your advise is seeked.

Hope below link will give you brief idea why CD4 count is less because of various other reasons other than HIV

yes you are right. But Eliza detect only antihivbody. PCR search virüs.
So different methods. I think different methods are more real results.
PCR generally use in born baby. And very good results. I think if you have a more worry to infect hiv.
-Firstly look P24AG antigen test. In 28.day
-Second you test 3.mounth ELIZA hiv antibody and ıf really full risk. 6.mounth retest.
-Lastly make a test PCR virus test.
BUT ONLY VERY VERY VERY HIGH RISK OF HIV. YOU THINK THAT.
I THINK AFTER ALL OF THEM. THE RESULT İS NOT 99.9. IT IS %100.
THIS IS MY THINKING, BUT GENERALLY THINK THAT VERY VERY VERY RISK STATU.
SO AFTER ALL TEST.
YOU USE ALL METHODS OF TEST. (ANTIGEN, ANTIHIVBODY AND VIRUS SEARCH)
THAT IS ALL.

What you think is not fact. PCR tests are not approved diagnostic tests. They are monitoring tests for people that have HIV.

I heart that some people has never antihiv body? Some cases seen.
What do you think about it?
And I generally think that you must be test with PCR. If any false. Look at Western test.
I think that Look at it with PCR test.

The normal CD4 is 500 to 1500^. It's not normal for a person to have a CD4 of less than 500.

Forgot to mention that some people just have low cd 4 counts. since you have tested negative, you may want to consider visiting a Immunologist and checking you for other stuff such as primary immunodeficiency, this is something you may be born with.

Hope this helps... Keep the lodo going , don't let it rest....keep choding , every ladki.

Bahi saab, kya re... Don't worry, you have over worrying way too much. Let me explain your cd 4 test.

Yes, the number you 225 is consider Aids, but your percentage % is normal, you don't seem to mention your cd 8 count.

What is your CD 8 ?

Usually with positive HIV , your CD 4 / CD 8 are inverted.

You have tested negative, indeed you are negative. trust me , these test are very accurate especially 3 years later.

Kya , life is chodya style...**** happens.

It is very rare for indian girls to have HIV, infect not a single girl that I know has it.

I think your fine. If you did have HIV at your Cd 4 and inverted Cd 8 , then you would be in the hospital right now, not typing to us.

You don't have HIV.

I am not sure why your doctor has performed lymphocyte panel for you .

Good luck and be safe, no hiv.

What is your CD 8 , CD 19 ?
