Since you tested negative at 43 days post exposure with a 4th generation DUO test, you can rest assured that you did not acquire HIV. But if you are having symptoms now, at 7 weeks post exposure, I would advise getting tested for other STD's. You could get retested for HIV but it isn't necessary and would be done simply to provide you with peace of mind, which in your case, I think would be beneficial. We do NOT judge people on this forum, I only hope that this "scare" has shown you that using a condom every time you have sex, not only protects both parties from acquiring an STD, but eliminates all the concerns. Your 43 day post test is conclusive. You do not have HIV. Symptoms are not used to diagnose HIV therefore are irrelevant. Only test results matter and you're negative. Congratulations. Always use condoms from now on.
