Blood

Two yrs ago, during a bachelor party I received oral sex (no condom) from a female exotic dancer. During the encounter, her lip was cut and she bled on my penis.  I immediately washed, showered then urinated (hotel room) and was tested two months after which was negative.  She stated she was STD free at the time.  I got married that same year and all was well.  I've recently learned this dancer is currently HIV+ with "undetectable" level.  My concern is I don't know if she was really negative during our encounter and the exposure to my urethra.  My wife has been tested twice for upcoming surgeries and she's negative, I haven't been tested in about a year.  Do you think that I need to get tested again.   No, my wife doesn't know about this encounter.

Just wanted to update you, just got my results almost two years after the exposure and it was negative.  Thanks to all of you for your straight information and solid support.  You are all wonderful people and I wonder why can't we be as kind to one another in person.

So how long AFTER the event was your last test?

As well, the urethra entry you speak of is speculated as far as I have read.  Most cases of males receiving it by insertive means have had open sores or were "torn" during the encounter allowing entry to the bloodstream.  The virus is very fragile and alot of things have to happen before it has the chance to infect.

Wow! She knew she had hiv during the incident? She never felt the need to contact you and let you know this? This just baffles me that someone would do this but then again there are those ppl out there. I really would go and get another test if I were you.  If it was already negative after 2 months earlier than chances are really in your favor that it will be negative now and then you can breathe easier. why don't you just go and get one of the rapid tests done that have results in 20 min. this way you wouldn't have to sweat it out for a couple of days or week. DR.HHH almost seems to swear by the 6-8 wk test being "all you need." In this case you really shouldn't have anything to worry about but just to ease your mind. goodluck!

Ok, let me update.  After a long discussion, the dancer I mentioned admits that yes, she was positive during the incident.  Explained that she had was "undetectable" level during the incident and needed the money from the party.  She apologized but what can I do at this point, as much my fault.  I got tested shortly after the incident and it was negative.  It's been about a year since I have been tested but my wife has had two tests since we've been married (about 1.5yrs after my exposure) which were negative.

I am concerned because of the direct exposure to this persons blood to my penis and I hear that the urethra is a conduit for the disease to enter the body.  Her lips was cut during the incident, I wasn't wearing a condom and her blood did coat my penis, creating a sheen.  I've never spent a day in the hospital, never had any type of STD, don't use drugs and haven't been sick except for a predictable 24hr flu like incident whenever the seasons change which has been occurring since I had scarlet fever as a child.  There were no bumps, lumps, lesions or open sores on my penis but I keep thinking about that famous african american former basketball player who supposedly got HIV from a woman.

I read your cholny29's response that risk is 1/10,000 for a known infected partner but does that include exposure to blood.  It's been mentioned that the disease isn't transmitted via spit.  I've read people have gotten HIV after an infected person's blood got into a someone eye so can it enter through the urethra?

What do you educated folks think?  I relax but then I read something else that alarms me and I can't find anything about exposure to positive blood trough urethra or unsheathed penis minus open lesion.

sorry about that pregnant comment, when i saw the word wife, my mind immediately reverted back to the posting in DR. HHH's forum today about a guy receiving a bj and his wife was pregnant.  I do apologize for that. However I would just get that antibody test and try and calm down.  I think you will be fine and as someone else posted just ask the person if you still have contact with them instead of automatically believing rumors.  Because rumors get bent way out of shape sometimes! goodluck!

You said this happened 2 years ago, you were tested about 2months after.  Then you say you were tested about a year ago, If I am reading this right you were tested 12 months after the event as well?  So whats the worry?

You obviously still know where this girl is, why not ask her?  You have only "heard" rumors.  You know how rumors go don't you?  If you havent heard one by noon, then start one.  Get my point?

I believe doc would categorize your risk as very low risk. receptive fellatio is 1/10,000 for a known infected partner.  But your sitting even better because you were the insertive which is even lower risk than that.  Plus the doc says that 6-8 wk single antibody test is all you need. And you had a two month 8-9 wks that was negative.  I would try and remain calm.  You are about to have a new family member welcomed in and there is no telling what kind of stress you must be under especially after hearing this woman is supposedly hiv positive and then the fact your wife is pregnant and you fear you have infected her.  If I were you since this incident happened over 2 years ago I would just go and get an antibody test and that will hopefully help you sleep better! Goodluck!

There is risk of transmission through oral sex but it has never been actually proven.  I doubt the blood went inside your pee hole.  The circumstances would have to be exact and that's too much thinking.  Your 2 month negative test is very reliable that your hiv negative.  I would suggest one more test for your own sanity though.  I think it would help you sleep better.
