You should take a hiv test at 3 months to be conclusive if you use a 3rd gen test, which most clinics does.

Ok thank u if I am taking 4th generation test how long so it be effective
Can I take prep after 2days
The new guideline for an HIV DUO 4th generation test is 6 weeks from the date of exposure.

This was told to me by Dr Hansfield just yesterday.

Below are his words from ASHA Expert Forum.

"About a year ago a paper was published that reestablished the maximum window period for the duo test as 6 weeks. For the past year we have advised 6 weeks."

Dr Handsfield.

Metropolis is a great pathology lab in India that offers an HIV DUO 4th Generation test  and as per Lab the test can be taken anytime after 3 weeks.

So if you take a test at 28 days that would be 95% to 99% reliable.

For your 100% satisfaction repeat the test at 6 weeks, that would be conclusive.
