Cold Sore & Crazy (I think) HIV risk

I actually think I may be suffering from OCD but found your advise very reassuring in the past!
Approx 8 months ago I received a protected (almost certainly protected - I was rather drunk) oral sex from a sex worker in China. It was a pretty awful environment and I became obessed about HIV and other infections on return home to the UK. I had an early duo test at 28 days (privately on Harley Street - London) and then a test on the NHS at 92 days. Both came back negative, however I occassionally find myself worrying again and again about HIV, I think because I have a family and guilt brings it on!

Two days I developed a cold sore for the very first time and yet again I am worried.

Four questions:

Did I expose my self to any risk?

Could the testing be wrong?

Is the cold sore a sign of HIV - unfortunately whilst looking for info on cold sore treatment I read on the NHS direct web site that it may be!

I am showing signs of OCD?

Thanks Again and I look forward to hearing back from you shortly.

Best regards..

Also, stop looking online for HIV symptoms.  It's a silly waste of time that can have no benefit, only can enhance your anxieties.

You asked about this same exposure back in November (two questions in two different threads).  As we discussed then, your apparent OCD is the only health problem in evidence here.

"Did I expose my self to any risk?"  Same answer as last time:  no.

"Could the testing be wrong?"  No.

"Is the cold sore a sign of HIV - unfortunately whilst looking for info on cold sore treatment I read on the NHS direct web site that it may be!"  I'm sure a careful read of the NHS information would make it clear the information doesn't apply to you.  Some people with advanced HIV/AIDS suffer from frequent or severe HSV infections, either oral or genital.  But that is never the only symptom; such people are generally very sick from advanced AIDS.  Of all people with oral cold sores, probably 1 in a million has HIV.  Forget it.

"I am showing signs of OCD?"  Yup.

Take care of that OCD.  HHH, MD
