Condom Effectiveness

Hello.  I have a question about the reliability of Condoms and HIV prevention.  There are a lot of differing ideas on the effectiveness of condoms to prevent HIV.  I have seen numbers ranging from 65% to 100% and some crazy ideas such as, "condoms have holes."

I have signed up for an HIV test on Tuesday after learning that a one-time sexual partner of mine is in fact HIV+.  At the time, I asked the guy if he was "Drug and Disease free" and he replied, "Yes."  Unfortunately, after discovering his internet blog on the web, I learned that this was not the case, and got him to admit that he had lied.

We had sex once, male to male.  I was the insertive partner, and ejaculated inside WITH the condom on- it did not break.  I also fingered his anus with lube and we performed oral sex on each other.

Statistically speaking, it seems that that my risk is not too high, but as I said, there seems to be a discrepancy in the numbers when it comes to condoms and prevention.  Are there any documented cases of HIV infection where a condom was used?  Also, I can't seem to find any information on HIV contraction through anal fingering.

Obviously, the test will tell the tale, but in the days before, I was just wondering if anyone has any reliable information about the riskiness of this incident to help ease my mind.  Thanks

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including diseases transmitted by genital secretions, and to a lesser degree, genital ulcer diseases. Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases, e.g., genital warts and cervical cancer.

Thanks for the feedback, and, no, I didn't omit any details.  It's disheartening that somebody could lie directly to my face and then proceed to have sex...I wouldn't have kicked him out, I just would have suggested that we didn't do anal.

At least we can put some amount of trust into condoms, even if we can't always trust people.

Proper use of condoms will protect you from almost all STDs, including HIV. So far there is no recorded case that someone has become infected doing fingering. If you did not miss something for us here, my opinion you have no worries.
