Condom ripped

I had sex with a working girl at a night club in romania . I have never done this before but the condom broke and I instantly stopped and told her no more. She told me that everything was ok because she gets tested once a month and she's clean. I think I quit intercourse about 30 seconds after the condom broke but I did not ejaculate at all.i was so paranoid I asked the manager if she was clean and he said every girl gets tested and he guaranteed me everything is ok. Anxiety has been killing me and I had never done this before and I'm praying to god that everything is ok. I went to an infection clinic and they gave me pep's because I was so stressed out and they wanted me to calm down and have peace of mind. What are the odds that I might get infected with HIV if this happened this way?thanks for your help I'm very stressed out

Ok,now you just need to relax and wait for these results. In the meantime think of something other than HIV.

I spoke the manager and we will have the girl tested. I guess that plus my test will ease everything

Just test at 6 weeks after your last dose of nPEP to get an excellent indication of your status and then follow up at 3 months for a final test--the rest is spliting hairs.

No that's why I'm treating this as worse case scenario

Are you so naive to believe that?

You had a risk, but not a very high one.  I highly doubt that the manager would lie to you about testing, most reputable brothels DO require frequent STD testing.

A conclusive result would be 3 months after your LAST dose of nPEP (which I also agree was overkill).

Your anxiety is from guilt and regret, you just need to work through it.

even if she is hiv +...it is HIGHLY unlikely that 30 seconds of unprotected sex will result in infection.  it's much harder for a man to contract hiv from a woman.

don't think that nPEP is warranted here.

Thx rainlover you have made me relax a bit more. Plus I just heard that testing is mandatory for working girls at that club

True.I bet she is negative but I would just have the test and I'm sure you will be negative. It's a very difficult virus to contract.

I guess another thing is the girl might not even HIV +. I'm just treating as she was because I'm paranoid. But I will never ever dothis again.

You mean low risk because Iquitos right away?

I think it was a low risk but I agree with TM that 6 to 8 weeks is a good indication of your status.

I just wanted to take pep meds to lower my risk if I was exposed. I think I'm just paranoid but anxiety is killing me

pep is normally reserved for those who had unprotected sex with someone KNOWN to be hiv positive. You have to take your test to outweight your anxiety. 6-8 weeks is a good inidcation of your stat.
