Doctor Bob isn't up on his assessments. You don't have HIV and don't need any furter testing.
Thankyou gig389 ...i am surely finding it hard to believe.....i wish you well with regards your test at the sixmonth mark..take care...one gp has told me to test till the 12month mark
Neither of you have HIV...it is not as common as you believe with HIV positive people
I got tested for hiv 1 and 2 ,6months post incident and tested negative .
sorry to hear...did you do a duo or combo? down here the drs seem to think its something else however what I know is that the tests are made in the USA primarily for the US market and not much concern is given to hiv 2 and the odd strain.Hope I have seen Dr Hooks comment however Dr HHH seems to believe there would be no untracable strain found in the USA but is not totally confident about other strains in the least industrialised countries. This is worrisome for me because ohl is strongly linked to hiv , i got it after a sexual encounter with a hooker.
Keep in mind that OHL happens to people whom have a healthy immune system too. Its also most common in an HIV positive when the T-cell drop below 200 which is at that point AIDS. If this was the case with either of you, you would of tested positive.
gig389...you do not have HIV
younglife...get tested with an Antibody test for a conclusive result
were you involved with a confirmed HIV case? and was the exposure devoid of protection?
Here ia a quote for you...

To worry about "rare" strains is an urban myth, typically fueled by incorrect statements made on the internet.
I have been reading comments by Dr Hunter Handsfield about the possibility of unknown strains of hiv in the non industrialised world-where i am from, how can i be sure that i have not been infected by an unknown strain?
Has there been any scientific evidence of anyone who has had an exposure to the virus and only tested positive after a long period of time.I read something on the internet about such a case in kenya of a man who was positive for 5 years but antibody negative for that duration of time.Has this been ruled by the medical world as a legitimate case?Im worried again as my symptoms are very damning.
Do you have any other symtpoms?
I have the same thing, leukoplakia that i thought was thrush, My exposure was less than 2 months ago, I have looked it up quite a bit but would like some extra insight on leukoplakia, what have you come up with so far?
No a cd4 has nothing to do with HIV. If your last encouter was 6 months ago then have an antibody test and it will be conclusive.
Hi Teak, can a cd4 count shed some sort of light with regards my issue? I keep getting asked if I have tested for hiv, i am now gravely concerned.
3 month is when your test is conclusive. PCR-DNA tests are not approved for early detection of HIV.
