Dear Dr. Hunter,
I may have suffered a needle-attack in Tokyo, Japan. I found a small dent on my left elbow, and there was a line of blood that dried on my skin.
I did my research online, I found that Japanese people are 99% HIV risk free. But being a OCD type of person I am freaking out.
Here is the timeline what happened, and the tests that I performed:
July 04, 2013: Needle Attack.
July 10, 2013: HIV1.2A/B (Antibody) test (Performed in Japan after I went to a Hospital there). TEST RESULT: Negative
August 05, 2013: HIV AB, HIV 1/2, EIA. TEST RESULT: Negative
August 08, 2013: HIV-1 RNA, Qualitative TMA Test, and HIV-2 DNA/RNA QUAL REAL-TIME PCR Test. TEST RESULTS: Both Negative
September 10, 2013: HIV AB, HIV 1/2, EIA. TEST RESULT: Negative
October 08, 2013: HIV AB, HIV 1/2, EIA. TEST RESULT: Negative
What are my symptoms?
1. From July 31, 2013 to August 21, 2013: I had diarrhea, muscle ache, lost about 10 pounds, mild sore-throat, mouth infection, itchy body, fungus type of attach on my neck/shoulder/chest and groin area.
2. Since then: I gained lost weight back, my diarrhea seems to be gone but an IBS like situation is still there, have slight sore-throat and mouth infection, body fungus coming and going, etc.
3. I never had high fever. I check every day, 2-3 times, and at mid-day it was close to 99.5, but never over it. At night it was 99.5 (until about 9 pm) and in the late night and early morning 98 (between 10 pm and 11 am).
Given all this information, do you think I have HIV? Or, am I panicking for nothing? Please let me know.
Thank you!
Regards,
SSultan
