Exposure definition

Hello people,

So I've read through the site as well as quite a lot of the discussions, in which the possibility of transmission from a sexual act is defined by one in (the number) exposures.

The question I have in mind for some time after reading all of them is: How do you guys here in the site define an exposure? Is it the number of acts done during the encounter (for example, the number of licking done during an oral sex), or the number of encounters?

To be honest, I do have a worry of getting cunnilingus (just like the people in tons of questions here in the site) and I haven't got myself tested. But since I'm sure the test will be reliable to tell my status (unlike most of the worry here in the site), I would like to know instead of how an exposure is defined, since it's somewhat vaguely defined here.

Thanks.

Correct.

Here is what we see...unprotected sex is a risk. We see things as a risk or no risk.

Because I haven't seen a post that has answered my question really well, maybe this one does. Maybe perhaps somebody else in the future would ask up exactly this question out of fear just like many similar hundreds or even thousands posts asking if their test results are valid. And if he/she does, you could refer him/her to this post and therefore help alleviating his/her fear.

So you mean one encounter = one exposure, no matter how many similar acts are done within the encounter? Is it?

Why are you so caught up on this "exposure" thing?

It doesn't matter if you stick it in and pull it out 1-20 times it is a risk. It is an exposure.

Try to move past "exposure" and just think of it this way:
You have unprotected vaginal or anal sex you have a risk.

Pause = extraction, FYI

Ok, let's make it clear here without offending each other.... So you mean to be exact, four different insertions (with pause between each) during an encounter count as four exposures? Yes or no?

Oh yes, I do have trouble understanding and I do know one can have sex for either one minute or three hours.

I just wanna find out if somebody can illustrate clearly what an exposure is, not to be told I should not have sex just because I want to have a picture of one's opportunity of getting HIV from multiple similar acts in an encounter with a sex partner.

Is cunnilingus vaginal or anal sex? You can have sex for 1 minute or 3 hours. And we don't play with numbers here.

And if you are having trouble understanding maybe you should not be having sex.

Well, I hope I don't cause annoyance here...

Ok so for example, I performed an UNprotected cunnilingus, in which I performed three times of licking, between each there is a pause. So they counted as three exposures? And based on the possibility mentioned by the doctors, would my possibility of getting HIV be 3 in 20,000 or 1 in 20,000?

This is not hard to understand.

You have sex unprotected then you had an exposure.

.......no matter how long it stays?

Exposure...insereting your penis into a vagina or anal cavity unprotected. Being penitrated by a penis in the vaginal or anal cavity.

Unprotected vaginal or anal sex. That is an exposure.
