FAO TEAK

Hi, i read this on this very site and wondered what you have to say about it as it refers to information you gave someone.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV---International/What-is-the-truth/show/1483114#post_6742642

The doctors at freedomhealth who also post on here categoricaly state 6 week hiv duo is conclusive, but you do not, i would like to know who you think is right and who is wrong and why, would be nice to see a discussion between you and them.

Post testing

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

This forum is operated out of the US so we use the US guidelines. We don't have the time to find out what county everyone is from and check on the guidelines. The US using 3 months is at least standard through the world. With the number of posts daily we don't have time to tailor specifics.
3 months is al you will hear us say until the FDA and CDC makes the change. It's as simple as that. No matter where they are from or what else they hear this forum is going to be consistant and say 3 month antibody test.

Yes but someone coming on here having had a 4th generation duo in the uk and tested negative and been told they are fine are getting conflicting information based on another countries guidelines and probably being worried over again needlessly, maybe when someone like teak says bluntly YOU TEST WAS NOT CONCLUSIVE...MOVE ON.. maybe he should at least mention guidelines and why he is stating it is not conclusive.
If they use different tests in the US then maybe the answers should be tatlored to the individual and where they are from.

Again Freedom Health is in the UK and they have different guidlines. The FDA is the hardest organization to get things past, it takes years and millions of dollars to get approval. The FDA did fast track the DUO test in America to get it on the market but years after the UK has been using it. But they still have the stance of 3 months.

So no Freedom Health is not wrong, they just use a different set of guidelines.

We use the FDA and CDC approved testing guidelines. Freedome health is in the UK and have different guidelines. Dr.Hook and Dr.HHH have real world testing experience and are confident to give other time lines on testing.
