We delete threads when fighting starts, when they serve to harm more people than help (as in causing a lot of anxiety, such as this one on a 1 in billion chance with a very rare subtype found in 100 people in rural Africa), when we find that the person posting has multiple user names, etc.
It has nothing to do with "party line". As stated in our Guidelines, this forum goes by the standards set by the CDC and experts from our HIV Prevention Expert forum. Those state 3 months by antibody is conclusive, with very, very few exceptions, such as severe immune deficiency from major chemo, CHRONIC injection drug use, etc.
So unless you happen to be one of those 100 people in rural Africa, have major immune deficiency issues, etc., then the 3 month standard applies to you.
YOU HAVE A 13 WEEK NEGATIVE TEST RESULT. MOVE ON
* This HIV Community is a place to discuss HIV Prevention based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors.
* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
* After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
* Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
* Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.
This article deals with Subtype C...in rural Africa. The rare subtypes they are contained in rural Africa and only 100 or so people have been confirmed with it.
If you want to get yourself sick with worry then by all means keep searching the internet. If you want to get well then seek a therapist.
Another case associated with fast disease progression - in the very small minority who don't develop antibodies, the disease progresses rapidly with fatal outcome. This is deeply tragic for those concerned, but it doesn't imply you should doubt your negative result at 3 months unless you are seriously ill like described in these reports.
Because you are talking about 1 in a billion cases.
Why don't you write the CDC and tell them to change there stance of 3 months is conclusive then we will change ours.
Also this is not a discussion forum this is a risk assestment forum.
