HIV / Oral Thrush

I made a big mistake about 3 years ago and had drunk, unprotected vaginal sex with a white female on a hookup app. It was a mistake that I learned from and I have played safe since. That being said. A couple of days ago my mouth got fairly immediately dry and for the last few days, it appears that I have some white coating on the back of my tongue. When I looked it up. It suggested oral thrush, which may be a symptom of HIV. Other than the possible thrush, I feel fine, and I don't remember the last time I was sick. That being said, I feel like I am going crazy with anxiety that I somehow contracted HIV and have been living with it for 3 years without knowing it? I'm going to get a test done soon, but at the same time, I feel like I'm freaking out over nothing.

You probably are freaking out over nothing, which is good, right?  Most people don't have HIV, and your chance of getting HIV from a one-time vaginal encounter is only 0.04%.  Combine those odds and you'll see that your chances of having contracted HIV from this event are minuscule.

Thrush can occur for a variety of reasons.  It simply means your oral flora are out of balance, which can happen through diet, or more commonly, as a result of having taken antibiotics.  HIV is the least likely cause.

Get tested to put your mind at ease, but really, there is no point in freaking out.

Thank you for the response. I have a test set up for tomorrow morning. I’ve heard that Thrush related HIV happens when the disease is more advanced... and if this occurred 3 years ago, I guess that’s a possibility. However. I feel like I would have experienced other health problems in the last few months / years besides this. Furthermore, I take some amoxicillin a couple of months ago which I’ve heard can result in oral thrush... but I’m not sure if it would have made an impact this long after taking the medicine
hiv doctors cannot diagnose from symptoms so no one here pays attention to them. People who post about their symptoms here often feel 'like I would have experienced other health problems ". The more you try to diagnose yourself, the more anxious you will get.The best thing for you to do is stop googling for hiv.
Started having stomach pain and diarrhea yesterday. Getting tested now. Never been more nervous in my life.
Those are symptoms of anxiety.
Did a 20-minute rapid test. Came back negative. Thank you so much for helping me in my hysteria a
