HIV-1 SUBTYPES effects on Trans and Response to Anti-Virals

Until recently I was very uneducated on the reality of transmission of HIV.  Unfortunately I had limited non-scare tactic education on the matter.

If Teak, Lizzie, Vance, or anyone who is knowledgable could provide answers or cite where I could research the answers that would be helpful.

1.). What affect if any does Subtype (ex B vs CRF A/E) have on modes/ means of transmission?

2.) Does subtype affect which cells are more likely to be targeted in the event of transmission?

3.) Does subtype affect the progression of the virus ( one may progess to AIDS at a faster rate)?

4.). What is the affect subtypes have on effectiveness of anti-viral medication?  (is one type or the other less responsive or more difficult to treat?)

5.). Why do subtypes matter?  (I know it has to do with the virus mutating, but what is it's real impact within this virus and the effort to find it's cure?)

6.) where can I find a reliable site that provides information on advancements in treatment and finding cure or vaccine?

Thank you, I know this is not a question as to a risk event. But, I feel that some of you (teak, lizzie, Vance) would have insight and could provide some knowledgable information.  Many sites are ultra negative, post confusing infor, or are down right misleading.  As many questions and answers within this forum acknowledge especially with risk in regard to oral and kissing.  Thank you
