If you are concerned about your tongue go see a Dentist.
Hairy tongue is not thrush and thrush is not HIV specific.
Thanks, I read the same thing online as well. But most sites say that hairy tongue is common in HIV positive ppl...? Didn't know if it was referring to the overgrowth of papillaie, or the resulting accumulation of bacteria or yeast etc. Any idea?
A black, hairy tongue is a temporary, harmless condition. It typically results from an overgrowth of bacteria — and sometimes yeast — in the mouth.
Some tips for removing the discoloration include:
Gently brush your tongue with a toothbrush twice a day.
Rinse your mouth with diluted hydrogen peroxide (one part peroxide to five parts water) or apply it with a toothbrush. Rinse your mouth with water afterward.
If this doesn't resolve the problem, consult your dentist or doctor. If the discoloration is due to bacterial overgrowth, antibiotics may be prescribed.
Has nothing to do with HIV.
