HIV Testing Intervals.

Good day to all.

Few questions please;

A) Is it ever necessary to test (Ab) at six months and than at twelve months post possible exposure to HIV?

B) In what case(s) is it necessary to test (Ab) at six months and than at twelve months post possible exposure to HIV?

C) Why do some other legitimate authorities/sites deem it commonly necessary?

I ask as I await my six-month point post possible exposure to HIV, my three-month was negative.

Regards,

Carlos.

A)  NO...3 months is conclusive (and you've been told this)

B)  ppl with SEVERELY compromised immune systems might need to test out to 6 months.  this would be ppl who are on anti-rejection drugs after an organ transplant...ppl on chemotherapy...or chronic, long term iv drug abusers.

C)  cant answer that one.  it could be outdated material...not educated...who knows??  the CURRENT guideline is 3 months.
