HIV- early symptons

i am a 42 year, intelligent but impulsive man, especially when drunk. 5 days ago I had unprotected sex with a guy whose HIV status I do not know. I topped but did not come inside the other guy, and he stuck his **** in me for about a minute. He did not come inside me.
4 days later I have had a slightly sore throat and a slight metalic taste in my mouth. I also did a line of coke in the night and smoke, so am hoping, propoably very optimistically that these may have other causes rather than being early indicators of Seroconversion.
Am  I being over optimistic..or has this one off encounter just cost me my relationship, my job etc?

I really cannot comment on that website, some of this stuff is beyond my knowledge, I am not a health care provider, I just know what I know from working at a clinic when I was younger, and from a family incident, simple as that.  I dont really believe that there are low risks or high risks, just risks, your behavior that night poses a risk to you and your partner and future partners that is why you should test.

Heya, dont start googling stuff on hiv, do yourself that favor.  Not to sound biased, but this site here is a pretty good site with respect to that disease and how one can and can't catch it.   But if you go on google or any other search engine you are going to find a lot of mis information on this disease, for example your dry mouth, is never a sign of ARS or early HIV infection, but if you go on a search engine, I am sure you will find someone that wrote it is. Just relax and get tested everything will be fine.

i at one time had the same problem , how i resolved it was if i was drinking or high than no tricking, being gay has nothing to do with it, we guys tend to be bad boys more often than women(such a sexist remark).

Thanks for reply m8..You are absolutely right in what you say, it is sometimes difficult to realise what your weaknesses are and when you nedd the support of others.. I need to put systems in place so yI have a m8 with me etc when I am drunk to stop the impulsive behaviour.. and to learn to be more assertive, not easy for some gay men, to be able to say no and not try and please everyone. Fingers crossed ..will keep you updated.

Thanks for the reply, I presumably do mean ARS. Obviously, from my post, I am very anxious and worried ( jesus you risk everything when you do something stupid like this) and am hoping that my dry mouth is more a result of my anxiety than anything else. The web sites I have been brosing do seem to flag sore throats ans metallic mouths as an indicator and most, but not all, do say that symptons do not usually occur until at least seven days after exposure (although there can be exceptions). It is difficult to tell if the symtpons, which of course include lack of concentration, are physical or psychomatic.
Of course I will get tested, but need to wait at least 4 weeks to get a real result, and will find a good excuse not to have sex with my partner ( not difficult as we never do) In the meantime I hopr the sore mouth and metallic mouth will go away, the concentration will return and I will not have any of the other symptons sure as high fever etc.
Thanks for the reply.

as evenflow says your chances of coming down with ars so quickly would be somewhat rare. you have had unprotected sex, it doesnt matter whether you *** , they *** or no one cums, you need to test at 3 months, not to preach to you but if you have a problem with being reckless when you are drunk i would say either dont get drunk or have someone with you that will prevent you from doing impulsive things. good luck

Seroconversion does not carry symptoms ( to my knowledge), you must be talking about ARS, 5 days from exposure is too early for ARS symptons to show up, they usually take 2-4 weeks to show up.  Symptoms however, are a poor indicator of hiv, as you can have no symptoms and have hiv or have all symptoms of ARS and have some flu like respiratory infection rather than HIV.  Most people do not have HIV so chances are you dont have it either. Hiv is not an easily trasnmitted disease, chances are on your side that you do not have hiv, however you did have unprotected sex and should get tested for your own sake and that of your partner.  Whether you came inside the guy or not doesnt matter, if you had unprotected sex you should test.
