HIV first stage symptoms

Dear Dr

I had unprotected anal sex with a prostitute 11 days ago. 4-5 Days after having had sex with her I experienced a sore throat that lasted for 5 days. Now I am feeling better. However could that sore throat have been a first stage symptom of HIV?

Thank you in advance

Oraquick tests for antibodies to HIV, not HIV itself, in oral mucosal transudate, not saliva.

I really think that you need to stop lurking on HIV forums. You're only going to fuel your anxiety. Get yourself off the subject completely.

Correct and the only way to know your status is by testing. Not all people have symptoms. Start using condoms.

Am I correct in my assumption?

Ok I understand. In conclusion since the sore throat came 5 days after exposure it must have another explanation that is not HIV. Correct?  Thank you very much for your time

If one has ARS, symptoms, they come on 2-4 weeks post exposure and last 1-2 weeks. HIV has no specific symptoms. The only way to know your status is by testing. You can obtain your conclusive test result 3 months post exposure.

Sex with a female anally is safer than a gay male anlly.  Females, unless IV drug abusers, are less likely to carry HIV.  Vaginal fluid, tears, saliva conain minute amounts of this virus.  Sperm and blood are loaded with this virus.  HIV cant live on a surace for more than a few seconds, unlike hepatitis B.  HIV is transmitted almost instantaneously in sperm and blood but still,,,many will not contract the disease.  If 2 guys r gay, the "girl' in the duo or the one being penetrated is the one to catch this disease as the anus is full of blood vessels.  Sperm is full of the virus if the penetrator is infected...so it will be the "girl figure" in the sexual act who will be more at risk due to the trauma of the penetration..All are at risk, but those who use IV drugs as pulling up a flash of blood before shooting up is often done but then added with sharing needles.  A female can catch HIV from an infected male vaginally, but since the vaginia is not as vascular as the anus, she will be at almost 10 x the risk if she has sex anlly, as does a male.  Hence, gay males spread this virus way more often oand bisexual males are a culprit to women in general.  Lesbians are just about safer than anyone unless they are IV drug users.  Think about the penetratator...the receiver, who gets th most trauma like a nick in the anal mucosa where loaded sperm could infect the one being penetrated.  I would not worry enough to lose sleep if i were u, but i would get tested at your local board of health as it is free if it is haunting you.  She was at the most risk in this transaction.
