My question was more curiosity driven. There was a discussion on the topic amongst friends and I was honestly just curious.
While I do suffer from OCD, I am aware that these forums are for real questions and my anxiety driven ones are usually not qualified as real questions.
Thanks for the responses.
In glancing over your posting history, it is very clear that you suffer from OCD, which is where these irrational questions come from. Continue to work with your mental health professionals to manage your OCD.
Your question is anxiety driven. Adults would not be at risk ingesting HIV infected breast milk because their immune systems are developed, unlike a baby's. The only exception would be an adult who would ingest breast milk in large quantities over a very long period of time, and I highly doubt that is a situation you are in.
I read that it is a theoretical risk if breast milk were to come into contact with an open wound or if an adult were to ingest it.
NO risk at all from this situation you describe.Breast milk can only transmit Hiv when it's from infected mother to baby.
