HIV symptoms

Hi,
Having read some of the comments in this forum I would like to say this: When someone has a symptom such as a sore throat it is criminal to link this in anyway to an HIV infection. I hear of more and more people being convinced that they have been infected with HIV because of a sore throat or some skin rash. That includes myself. What follows is immense stress and all the consequences that go with it to say the least. It is therefore every responsible person's job NOT to mention the word HIV in any forum related to everyday symptoms. Based on studies and all the research available, HIV thankfully still remains a very difficult and rare infection to catch.

This discussion is related to Sore throat.

This post sends the wrong message,
"Based on studies and all the research available, HIV thankfully still remains a very difficult and rare infection to catch."

Your statement gives validity for people to have unprotected sex.

Symptoms don't diagnose HIV only an HIV test can do that.

At the same time comments such as 'if you have a persistent sore throat you may need to have an AIDS test' gives validity for people to believe they might be HIV positive just for having such a minor symptom.

No one here says that.

ARS Symptoms are very common, fever, rashes, body aches , sore throat, swollen lymph glands. You can have all these symptoms and still test negative.

Actually, the above is incorrect.  ARS symptoms are not "very common".  MANY newly infected people never have one symptom at all.

The important thing to remember is that symptoms are NEVER a way to determine status, only a test will do that.
