HIV

well, the case is on 3rd august i received several minutes of unprotected oral sex from a girl for couple of minutes and several attempts for protected vaginal sex (but failed as heavy alcohol consumption cause inability to erect). The girl was brought for blood test, HIV Ag/Ab -ve

Yesterday, i went for combo test at 30 days post exposure, which showed up non reactive. Is this test conclusive enough? Still having several symptoms such as mild muscle aches, cold feet and slight runny nose.

12 weeks for older 3rd generation tests 28 days for 4th generation (Duo / Combo) tests.

Even at six weeks, the older tests would pick up almost 100% of + cases.

You really are HIV Negative!

Buddy - you are Negative.

The immune response is one part of the test, the other part looks for the virus... It cannot detect what you do not have - simple! :)

Symptoms do not diagnose HIV, never ever ever...

Ignore your symtoms, you have tested beyond the 28 day window period for Duo tests and also had a NO RISK exposure - you are definitkey HIV Negative!! :)

well, what bothers me is the symptoms I had now, even with a -ve result. muscle ache and cold feet persisted for around 2 weeks and runny nose started 2-3 days ago.

Even though the physician told me that unprotected oral sex is low risk but also posed a risk as well. And for the test, he said that teenagers had better immune system hence within 30 days HIV might not able to be detectable in blood. It freaked me out :( was it true

Hi there.

You had no risk to start with buddy! :)

Your Negative Duo test at 30 days (any time after 28 is Conclusive) is absolute confirmation that you did not catch HIV from the above.

You can move on safe with the above in mind, - always make sure you use Condoms as you have done - Kudos for this! :)

Enjoy your HIV Negative status! :)
