Hi
While preparing for an MRI scan with contrast at the hospital when the nurse removed the needle from the IV it felt down and I started pouring blood through the IV tube. The nurse was not wearing gloves and got blood on her hands, but this is not my problem, in am just stating the facts . Then she stopped the bleeding by isolating the tube (I think she turned a knob or something) and cleaned the blood from my hand with alcohol solution on cotton swab. She still was not wearing gloves. She had no visible cut on her fingers, I noticed that before she started the procedure. Does this sound like an HIV exposure for me, I am thinking for example if she had hiv and a cut, while cleaning the skin around the IV line, could that be a route of infection? My skin had no cuts, appart of course from the prick of the IV line.
This incident happened in a European hospital.
