How are needlestick injuries infectious/unsanitary clinic?

If blood is on the tip of a needle, it would be exposed to air and rendered unable to infect so how are nurses at risk from fingerpricks if just the tip of the bevel enters. I had an uncomfortable situation at a clinic with some unsanitary conditions (this is a completely different occasion than previously where I was worried of a needle that wasnt reused, which wouldnt infect because blood is drawn out of the body). The nurse seemed nervous and i believe I saw fresh blood sitting in the bevel of the needle, if the nurse pricked himself and blood got on the needle, is there a risk or is it exposed to air?

You seem to have a needle phobia related to HIV, and we strongly suggest you seek counseling for that phobia.

NO MATTER WHAT, you aren't going to be infected by a needle unless you are sharing needles that are used to inject people with.  Blood draws do not inject into you - they draw out of you.

Needlesticks are a very small concern.  Despite the fact that many healthcare workers get needlesticks, and are exposed to fluids from HIV-infected individuals, only a handful of healthcare workers have been infected from occupational exposure to HIV, in the 40-year history of HIV.

Put this irrational phobia behind you, or seek professional help to overcome these persistent thoughts.

I understand I have a phobia, but I am trying to calm some fears because it will take months for me to see a therapist/psychiatrist. My problem is that I am finding conflicting information, if blood was on the end of the bevel once it penetrates my skin wouldnt the blood on the needle enter my blood stream as its not secured within the needle? To further my anxiety, around 7-8 days later I started getting very hot - felt feverish but my temperature wasnt abnormal.
