Pep For This Risk?

Hello,

I recently lost my virginity to a man, and now I’m kind of freaking out about STDs and HIV. I had protected vaginal sex, and gave him unprotected oral sex (he came in my mouth). He also gave me oral. He is Bisexual and has slept with both men and women before, he said he is HIV- but he asked about us not using condoms, I insisted on using them for vaginal sex, which makes me nervous about his status. The condom did not break. But I do have periodontal disease, and I had a few small sores in my mouth at the time (canker sores I think).

What’s the deal here, I read somewhere that even protected sex is a low risk and to get tested, or maybe get pep for the unprotected oral. Some say don’t even get tested? I am still within the 72 hours, should I get the pep? If not, then do I need testing for this?

Thank you so much.

You are now going around in circles because you are seeking information from HIV helpline and telling that to us and vice versa. You won't find the same answer on a helpline because they are doing their job of reading out of their scripts. Whereas, we are a support forum relying on practical information.

We have already told you that you weren't at risk and don't need to test. There is nothing more we could add this any further. Now, the choice is just yours.

Hey Thankyou, I recently risked myself in the same exact way. Went to the clinic here, and they refused ti give me pep cuz they were telling me i really had no risk.
Well, then it's good for you. No need to worry. Normally, people would believe what the clinic would tell them. Abnormally, people would fret over it, this denial is due to anxiety and that can be treated with counseling. Since this is an HIV prevention forum, you can't get that help from here.

Thank you. Even the oral with cum in my mouth is not a risk? I chatted with a local helpline, one of the person there said its a possible risk and for me to get tested? I asked again and the other said its a very low risk and no test required. Im so confused.

Ditto.... You were never exposed to any risk of HIV as already responded by CurfewX. No need for any PEP or any HIV test later.

You don't need PEP - you had NO RISK for HIV.  You don't even need to test.

Risks for HIV are:
1) Having unprotected penetrative anal or vaginal sex, OR
2) Sharing IV drug equipment with other IV drug users.
