Man...

I think this stress is driving me nuts despite 2 tests  plus a full std test sometimes im just paranoid my throat bothers a bit and i feel  a little swelling ball kinda under my jaw like in between by chin and under the mandibal. Mind you my wisdom tooth is coming out on that same side could it be swelling and bothering my throat as well??. I have not had any fever at all. As i stated i took an anti body test plus a PCR 16 days after the oral sex i received and both negative. I was kinda worried about that grl who gave me oral sex to have HIV so i took a PCR. They told me the PCR test is conclusive at 28 days i did it at 16 so i might just do it one more time and just let this go man. what do you guys think? should I or what?. My primary doctors appointment is on Wed so i hope for everything to be well. The only thing i ever had was chylamdia and they gave me Doxycycline for it it doesnt burn anymore when i pee only that i see my urine is back to its normal color but i see 1 little floating white thing in it i guess its pus?. The reason im going to see MY doc now is just in case i dont have a kidney infection. Well get back guys our feedback is most appreciated thnkx!

AidsMeds is not for everyone. They still hew to the 3 month line as being conclusive, while other sites are generally, in most case, marking down the window period (depending on level of risk).

So, in that and other regards, the previous poster is right, it is not for everyone. But I do believe they have some good things to say on the topic of oral sex. I found most of it reassuring. And so might Pat. Then again, I do counsel others to lay off surfing the Internet, so perhaps I've gone against my own advice here.

In any event, you can stay right here and get the answers you need. I suggest you spend some time looking through the forums here. As I said, what you will find will reassure you.

Take care of yourself,

oh Miami Fl? haha that's where my encounter happened right in strip club called Club PinkPussy Cats, I bet u been there before:) What even more freaked me was that hiv rate in Miami is second highest in States.

Anyways, to your question.....I don't really know specific sites for Oraquick test in Miami coz I don't live there. But you can definaltly go to www.hivtest.org and search for it (just FYI there seraching on website is messed up, you will be better off calling their 1-800 number which is open anytime) if you can't see anything there then call there 1-800 number, it is also listed on their website as well.

If you still can't find it then search in google for "hiv rapid testing centers in Miami" OR "STD clinics in Miami"

Move on, you are fine.

Try to stay calm as much as possible even though it is incredibly hard. If you decide to get another PCR you could confim it with an antibody a few wks later or you could just wait a couple more weeks till you reach the 6th wk and have the standard antibody test then that way you don't have to fork out a load of money on that test. I don't know if this might help but my wisdom teeth have been coming in for the last four years and it does cause quite a bit of pain for some people.  Every once in a while when one is coming through or something it really hurts like near my mandible, ear, or behind the ear sometimes.  I don't know if many ppl experience these problems with their wisdom teeth but I have experienced it off and on lately.  Maybe this advice helps a little. Goodluck and keep us posted.

Hi Pat,

Well, first things first:

1. You do not need another PCR test. Especially in light of the fact that,
2. It has never been documented, according to Doc H, who has some experience in this field, that anyone has ever contracted HIV from either performing cunnulingus or receiving a blow job.

Head on over to AidsMeds.com and do a quick scan of the forums. The  moderator at the site cites numerous studies in which serodiscordant couples (one has HIV, one does not) are tracked over a period of time. One of the interesting results of the studies is that in couples that consistently use protection for vaginal and anal intercourse, but no protection at all for oral sex, not one of the negative partners has contracted HIV. Not a single one.

Or, stay here and search the forums. You'll find yourself reassured. Very reassured.

The conventional wisdom used to be that oral sex carried with it a moderate to high risk (depending on who you spoke to) of transmission of HIV. That is no longer the case. Oral sex is now widely recognized to be an exceedingly low risk for HIV.

To sum up, I was in the same boat as you about 6 months ago, and I was a nervous wreck. I went out and took all of the tests, mainly because I did not know any better. I had antibody tests, oral swab tests, PCR tests - you name it, I had blood drawn for it. I lost so much blood I am amazed that the testing alone didn't kill me. I had tracks from testing needles - friends and loved ones were convinced I was a heroin addict. In the end, I wish I had done exactly what I am going to advise you to do: chill out and, if you are still worried, though you have no reason to be, wait until the 6th week and go get an OraSure test. 20 minutes, you probably won't pay anything for it, and then you're on your way, safe, sound and relieved with your negative test result (and it most assuredly will be negative).

A final word on PCR tests. Most every doctor I spoke to about taking one tried to dissuade me from doing it. I didn't listen, though, and I went out and had two. In the end, they did very little to reassure me as they are not FDA approved for diagnostic testing. I know some doctors in HIV practices do use them for that purpose. I am not a doctor, nor an expert, so I will not comment on that. What I will say is this: while I ultimately did not trust the result, at one time, I also didn't understand why anyone would recommend against taking the test. That is, until I met a poster on this site, with whom I had several private conversations.

One of the problems with the PCR is the tendency for it to give false positive results. It typically will not report a false negative, which is good. But, the person mentioned earlier had taken the PCR test and been told by the lab that it came back as showing HIV DNA in his bloodstream. The count was so low that the lab told this person it was *most likely* false positive. But, that didn't help this person's state of mind in the least. Not sure about you, but had that happened to me during my own troubling time, I might have gone right off the deep end. The person in question had a devil of a time until the WB results came back. Needless to say, the final HIV test results were all negative, and this person eventually got on with their life. But it was a hell of a few weeks waiting to find out.

Ultimately, the decision to take the PCR is really up to each individual. I took it, and it turned out fine (though I ultimately realized I had thrown away $800 dollars). Before I met the person described above, I would have said go for it, what do you have to lose? Now I know better.

Whew, sorry this is so long, got on a roll. Good luck to you, though you certainly don't need luck.

You worry too much. All you had was a simple blowjob, let it go. I had "happy ending" with a stripper. Who knows how many guys she been with. But from start to finish I used condom and I took Oraquick test at exactly 32 day, it came back negative. So I am going to forget entire incident as a mistake and never gonna do that again. Not to mention, I went to public clinic where I received free test. I bet you spend pretty good amount on ur test. Straight up dude, you don't need additional testing. Forget about entire incident. In future, be sure to ask girl about her status before doing anything. I asked stripper and she told me that she has two kids and she likes me about how paranoid I was about preoctection.
