Geographic Tongue

Does anyone know anything about geographic tongue and/or denuded patches on the tongue. I have shown it to 2 doctors (neither are specifically oral surgeons); neither thought much of it (nor any of my 'symptoms'). It's not thrush. It seems like it flares up and then by the time I get to the doc (several days later) it's just a 'minor tongue irritation' (one said people lose papillae all the time). There aren't really the characteristics thick, raised white borders. Does this mean it's not geo. tongue? This started approximately 6-7 days after exposure (I think). Tested neg 5 and 8 weeks post exposure. It's really concerning me. I feel like had some sort of viral infection during this time (itching, small thigh-localized eczema rash, a few red 'dots' - dismissed by MD as just 'body spots'). Having trouble waiting to 12/13 weeks (almost at 10). All help appreciated, thanks.

if you are having TONGUE issues...see a health care professional and stop trying to SELF DIAGNOSE yourself.

Move on. There is no reason what so ever to bring up posts that are almost two years old.

Well, I highly doubt it's a symptom of eating something too hot or spicey in my case. That being said, it came on so early (~6 to 7 days after possible exposure), or so I think (maybe I've always had it, although I doubt it) so if it's not from ARS, that eases me a bit. My brother had CFS, something that has been related to it before, so maybe there is something congenial going on here (I guess I'm grasping); and so the conditions may have been right for it to first appear (jet lag, minimal sleep for days and high stress). I truly do think I picked something viral up in the philippines or in the plane ride back; it really felt that way (can't explain, just know). I hope it's not serious as the doctors have said. I guess we'll see...

Well he didn't get it from oral sex no matter what he posts. No geographic tongue is not a symptom of ARS. It's a symptom of eating something to hot or to spicy.

Sorry, the nervousness is setting in again. A guy who posted here tested positive after a receiving oral exposure recently (Maverick74). I scared the owner of the 'bar' I was at into (supposedly) testing the girls; all negative. These symptoms are far too strange. Is geographic tongue in HIV patients typically an early onset (ie before even ARS) symptom?

The reason the doctors wheren't concern, because there is not a reason to be concerned. It's harmless and requires no treatment.
