My HIV Test

On New Year’s Eve party (31st Dec 2009), under influence of Alcohol, I had casual UNPROTECTED vaginal sex with a lady (an office colleague, not a CSW) which both of us regretted later. The lady last had her HIV test (with negative result) 18 months back when she was pregnant. I am straight and follow not very active but, barring this incident, very safe sex life. On advice of local pathological lab I underwent HIV test exactly 91 days after the exposure on 2nd April 2010. As far as I know, the tests for HIV are called ELISA, Western Blot or PCR DNA/RNA tests. But this lab conducted ELFA VIDAS DUO ULTRA test. The Result was NON REACTIVE.
Kindly inform:
1) How reliable is this test?
2) Am I conclusively Negative or
3) Should I take up ELISA , Western Blot and PCR DNA/RNA test

I am convinced that 3 months result is conclusive. But my basic questions are unanswered.
Please tell me :
1) How reliable is ELFA VIDAS DUO ULTRA test?
2) Can I take this test result as conclusive or
3) Should I take up ELISA/Western Blot or PCR DNA/RNA tests also.
Thanks

the CURRENT guideline is 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result.  if you are on anti-rejection drugs following an organ transplant...on chemotherapy...or a LONG TERM CHRONIC iv drug user...THEN you may need to test out past 3 months.  even that is stretching it.

3 months for a conclusive result.

After posting my mail, I went through several earlier posts. There is General consensus that 3 months' test is conclusive so I do not understand your views of 6 moths and 12 months test.
My question is not regarding 3 months or 6 months but Validity of test I underwent. Do I need ELISA or Western Blot?

While our situations are vastly different, our timelines are the same.  From what i can find 97% of people have detectable antibodies within 3 months.  There are the rare situations where it can take up to 6 months or even 12 months, but those are considered extremely rare.
Personally, i feel better now that i have my 3 month results (HIV - ) but will get a test at the 6 month window and possibly again at the 12 month window.

You have a 97% chance (at least) that you will be fine...
