90% of people who are infected will test positive within 2-6 weeks on infection. Some people take longer. So you can be 90% sure that you don't have HIV. Even more so if it was not a high risk exposure (Anal sex, Sharing needles). I've been here before, taking a 4th gen test now would help relieve your worries as well as rule out HIV! Stay safe xx
If the test you had done at 5 1/2 weeks was a 4th generation DUO which checks for antibodies AND antigens, then those results will be conclusive.
If the test you took only checked for antibodies, then a conclusive result cannot be obtained until 12 weeks post exposure.
What was your risk? You may not even needed to test!
And I mean p24 protein. It's been a long day!
If it is antibodies only it is conclusive at three months. However it would provide a very good indicator at 5.5 weeks. HIV Duo tests which examines the p24 antigen is considered conclusive at 4 weeks.
