Nervious Wreck

I posted on the board a few weeks back after what I thought was a bad possibility of exposure, which several people replied back with the chances of getting HIV was very low but the possibility of picking up an STD/STI were possible.

Unfortunately out in Malaysia there doesn't seem to be any clinics I can go for testing but the thing that's killing me is I've convinced myself that something is wrong.  I've had a sore throat, shakes & shivers, fevers, diahoria, a few red spots on my hands - you name it my body has somehow generated it!

I know that in a matter of weeks I'll be back in the UK - as soon as I'm back I'm going to get fully checked out via the Same Day Doctor clinic but the thing is I'm a bag of nerves & I've convinced myself that somehow I've got something.

It's driving me round the bend!

Hell - you're in Malaysia and you're not indigenous. The mosquitoes will be having a field day. It's much more likely than an STD.... :)

Take care and keep us informed of your check-up. Keep remembering the SFCC website. From that, giving oral sex to a girl might rarely give you Herpes and very little else....

Take care and stay sane!

...the spots on the old hands and arms have gone away but I've got a few on my legs - I'm actually thinking its more down to insect bites by the look of it.

...I must admit I feel better after checking out the website but the killer is the paranoria.  Hopefully not much longer to get out of here and go back to a bit of normality as I badly need it!

Hi Ash. I'm going to assume you didn't have unprotected sex, because if you were that drunk or drugged that you couldn't remember, the likelihood is that you wouldn't have been able to get it up anyway...:) Apart from that, the CSW is very unlikely to lie to you about whether you had sex after the event. There's no reason to. She might lie about whether she had STDs, but she was much more likely to say you were fantastic in an attempt to keep you as a trick!

So your only real "risk" was the oral sex... I'll give you this website to read. It's from the San Francisco City STD clinic.

http://www.dph.sf.ca.us/sfcityclinic/stdbasics/stdchart.asp

Basically, while they say giving a BJ is a POSSIBLE, very, low risk, any other form of oral sex is NO RISK. It also gives you an idea of the other STDs that you may or may not have been exposed to. Remember, this is from a city with the 3rd highest number of HIV+ people in the US and at the front line of the fight against HIV. I really don't think they will try and misinform people.

I hope that puts your mind at ease. Go get your check-up from samedaydoctor, but HIV should not be on your radar while all the other STDs are easily treatable...

Take care.

...with colleagues in Kuala Lumpur (working over in Malaysia) back in February.  Got speaking to this girl who came to our table who bought me a drink and some reason later on (this is the weird bit) I was convinced my girlfriend was there (don't know why & I'm thinking maybe I had been drugged) - so me & my "girlfriend" went back to the hotel.

I performed oral sex on her (clit only with wine) and she was asking for intercourse without a condom, which we never do and I said I didn't want to do that.  Next day I wake up and my girlfriend's not there, it's a bloody sex worker from the Philiphines whose over in Malaysia to make money!!!!

I know that we didn't have sexual intercourse (she said the same thing but I don't know anymore) as I checked myself out the next day (still had my underpants on & couldn't see any signs of any fluids) - I asked her repeatibley whether she had HIV, STD or STI but she says no, but I just don't know anymore...it's a right bast**d because I don't know what to think anymore.

I do know I washed out my mouth a lot with beer, wine and spirts that night so any germs should in theory have been killed off...well I hope so!

Hi Ash. What was your exposure?

It probably was already put in your previous post, but I'll reinforce it - don't try and predict HIV infection with symptoms. No symptom is specifically indicative of HIV and around a third of HIV+ people report no symptoms. At least some of the symptoms you describe are attributable to anxiety (diarhoea, shaking).
