Opinions on situation
I have been seeing this girl for about a month and a half now. She has a shady past. She did hardcore adult movies for about three months three years ago. I knew this when I met her, and I asked if she had been tested while she was making these movies. She said that she was tested frequently. She told me she had not had sex with anyone in 5 months (when she broke up with her last boyfriend), and that she gets frequent blood work done and that she is negative. I figured that we were in a relationship and that she was on birth control so I have been having unprotected sex with her (all in all about 10-12 times). I left town about two weeks ago and began to get nervous that she could be lying about some of the things she told me. I noticed a small inflamed nodule on my neck and started taking my temp about 12 times a day. It never got above 99.
(this time line is about two weeks after we stopped having sex)
Sunday- Felt a bit tired
Monday- the one nodule on the left side of my neck turned to two, feeling kind of hot at night, still no fever.
Tuesday- several “shotty” nodules on the left side of my neck. Joint pain in my right shoulder and elbow. Temperature normal during the day, but up to 99.5 at night at times. Still tired.
Wednesday- began taking adderall to help with studying. Loss of appetite. Now have around 5 shoddy lymph nodes on left neck, two on right neck. Highest temp recorded was 99.9
Thursday- Feeling around the same, still tired, kind of weak. Nodules still swollen on both sides of neck. Around four on the right side now. Highest temp still hasn't gone over 100. Feeling pretty nauseous, havent had a substantial meal in a few days. Just beer. I called the girl and she confirmed to me that she called her doctor and was told that her last blood work done showed nothing unusual.
Friday- I woke up with a huge pain on my inner hip. It was a big red circle centered upon what looked like a whitehead. As the night wore on, it began to spread into what I can best describe as jock itch around my inner groin. It was painful and burned to the touch. I also noticed several (around 4-5) swollen spots on my scalp, kind of like mini concussions). Worried enough to go to the hospital. I tell the doctor about the shoddy lymph nodes on both sides of the neck. He asked if they were anywhere else, and I told him no. He said that given my circumstance I probably shouldn't be too worried and sent me home. After I got home (I don't know if it was because of relief from what he said or whatever) I got my appetite back and had a full meal and got the first good night of sleep all week.
Saturday- Feeling markedly better. Lymph nodes have gone down on both sides a great deal, I can still feel them, but just barely. Scalp “concussion are gone. Jock rash has gone away but the place where it was has a few inflamed hair follicles that still hurt a bit. Temp is back down to around the 98.8 region. Feeling normal for the most part.
Throughout the 5 day ordeal I believe that I experienced
-fever (never above 100)
-joint pain (in elbow)
-pain in neck (strain)
-shoddy glands on both sides of neck
-A whiteness on my tongue (I have always had a problem with tongue scum, but maybe a bit more than usual)
-general malaise
-tiredness
-slight dry cough
I never had
-sore throat
-swollen lymph nodes on my underarm or groin (except for maybe that hair follicle thing)
-I have been looking at every part of my body religiously and have noticed no signs of rash whatsoever.
I know that they say HIV usually includes generalized lymph swelling. Does that mean two different areas of the body (like neck and armpit). Or does it mean swelling on both sides of the neck?
-The only swollen nodes I had were those little pea sized ones on the neck. They got big enough to feel but never over 1cm. However, there were several of them.
During the week I was also taking quite a bit of adderall which might have contributed to the lack of sleep and not eating. Which I think could be why I was so tired.
The thing that worries me most is the lymph node swelling. Everything else I can kind of explain away to myself. I understand that two of the most common symptoms are the sore throat and rash, both of which I never had. The girl has continued on and on about how she knows that she is not infected, to the point where I think she is getting annoyed with me
Is my lymph situation common for people experiencing ARS? Do you usually get a few large swollen nodes when infected, or is it more like what I experienced? What do you think about my situation?

Your nodes are probably inflamed because you keep touching them. see your doctor.
Thanks again for the replies. I don't know if I will have the courage to go get tested. But I think I felt a sore lump under my arm today. This is all just extremely scary to me.
we cant diagnose you over the internet. see your doctor if you are having health problems.
You could have the flu, or you could have inflamed them from poking them so much.
Lizzie's right - she probably doesn't have HIV, and I think she's breaking the law if she knows and she lies. Chances are she's not positive.

thank you guys for the responses. I was wondering if my symptoms might indicate something. They always describe ars lymphnodes so vaguely.
most ppl dont lie about their status when asked.
it's always best to wear a condom until you can be sure about your partner's sexual status. having unprotected sex, not only puts you at risk of hiv, but other std's as well.
you can test at 6-8 weeks post exposure...but follow that up with a test at 3 months for a conclusive result.

The only recent case of HIV transmission in the adult industry was with Darren James in 2004. Since that bombshell, most mainstream porn has been pretty vigilant with their testing. Although it seems counterintuitive, she was probably no more risk than most women for HIV.
However, unprotected sex is still unprotected sex. If you don't know her status for sure, testing is warranted. Your symptoms are irrelevant, as HIV symptoms are non-specific.
