"Paper pin" *****, can this be a possible exposure?

Hey!

Today I went to a furniture shop to buy a second hand Sofa. In the shop I came across a sofa with cushons, when trying to pick the cushon I was sharply pricked by a paper pin used to keep the cushon cover intact. I was wondering if that pin was dirty and may also have pricked someone else who might be HIV Positive (such as staff in shop or a customer).

Can someone please tell me that:

How long does HIV survives on an object like a "paper pin"? and is there a risk involved in this incident, can I be infected in this manner?

I am really freaked out and worried

Oh right, Now i see why mine was a no risk exposure (As the Temp would have changed as well as the PH)
Sorry just ignore me

First off HIV is NOT alive. It cannot stay active outside it's host when exposed to temp change, or ph change and it cannot be transmitted via a non-hollow core needle or any other environmental surface or article.

Yea sorry? Whats wrong with my answer?? :S

I was told that HIV can live up to 30 seconds when exposed to air? Is it beacuse there would not be enough blood etc?

Because you cannot contract HIV in that manner.

The only way there could be a risk is that if you saw someone ***** themselevs with it and then you instanly priked yourself... (Within like 10-30 seconds)

That is not true..

ZERO and No risk are the same thing...
You where not at risk, HIV doesnt survive long when exposed to air
This is why a syringes there is a risk as its in a sealed container where air cant touch it, A pin is exposed to air...

The only way there could be a risk is that if you saw someone ***** themselevs with it and then you instanly priked yourself... (Within like 10-30 seconds)

from needles you mean syringes which inject fluids?

So that means I wasn't at risk at all?

Can I assume it as ZERO or No Risk?

a needle and a pin are two entirely different things.

but they also say that you can be infected if a dirty needle with HIV + Blood pricks you?

What if that pin had same story?
