Protectec sex with a prostitute and now an STD

Hello all,

Two weeks back I went to Bangkok for a one week vacation. During that week, I had sex with 4 bar girls on different days. I used condoms for every sex act and am certain that the condoms didn't break. There might have been some vaginal fluids on the base of my penis not covered by the condom. Also, while changing condoms, I might have got some vaginal fluid in contact with my uncovered penis. I believe these are extremely low risk exposures as far as HIV is concerned.

However, since yesterday I have been having pain in my testicles and today I went to a doctor. I got blood tests and urine tests done for gonorrhea and chlamydia. I'll probably get the results tomorrow or day after.

My questions:

1. Is it much easier to get gonorrhea and chlamydia than HIV even though I used condoms? If I do test positive for gonorrhea or chlamydia, does that mean there might have been a failure in the condom and my exposure to HIV may be medium to high instead of low like I thought?

2. I was thinking of doing an antibody test for HIV after 90 days but should I go for an RNA/PCR or DNA/PCR after 10 days if this becomes a high risk exposure?

Thanks.

SI.

Hi,

Got my test results.

1. They did a DNA PCR test and I got billed for the same. Can't figure out why they did because the doc hadn't written it in the prescription he had given to me. My guess is they asked him later and he told them to do it. The test is negative but it tells me nothing because it was around 8 days after the last exposure. No sense is going back for a test again soon. So I'll wait for the antibody test after 3 months.

2. VDRL Test/ RPR (Coagglutination) : Non reactive
The note with it says it is a test for syphillis. I thought I was being tested for gonorrhea or chlamydia. The doc wasn't there today so couldn't go to him with the test results. Does the non-reactive mean it is negative for gonnorhea/chlamydia also or did they do the wrong tests?

3. Other blood tests are normal. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I'll have to check when the doctor is in. Maybe day after tomorrow. Until them I am taking a one-week course of antibiotics. The pain and discomfort are gone but I'll finish the course.

Thanks.

Is it possible that you contracted the STI from other exposures besides the ones you mentioned?
