The CDC is overly conservative recommending testing at 6 months. If you are negative at 3 months, you are absolutely negative. The response you received from diver is all the answer you need!

I believe you stated you DO have herpes.......is it oral or genital? Having herpes will not affect you acquiring HIV.

You can get married with confidence now, but if you DO have herpes, you must be aware of your outbreaks and protect your wife. Herpes can be transmitted with either oral or genital sex. Please have your doctor explain how to protect others.

Though you do not need any test for this particular exposure, however you may go for a 4th generation due test anytime now, collect your conclusive report and move on with your life. This is suggested only for your peace of mind

All the risks are estimated using a single common basis, "One partner is HIV+" because otherwise there is no question of transmission. Receptive Oral sex does not carry the risk of HIV transmission and nobody has ever caught the infection from such exposure alone. Therefore you do not need any test for HIV
