Receptive anal sex condom broke

I engaged in protected receptive anal sex with another guy that says he negative. He was very endowed so we actually didn’t fully have sex maybe 2 or 3 minutes. I heard a popping sound from behind, withdrew immediately and noticed the condom had broke. He was barely inside me for no longer then 5 seconds. He state that he is hiv negative. But I freaked out and got PEP started within 18 hours of the incident. Please evaluate my risk and is PEP effective, so far I’m not having any side effects from the medicine. I was prescribed Truvada 200/300 MG q day, with isentress 400mg BID.

Failure can happen on any medicine you take.  I've read that PEP is 87% effective. But when it does fail, it is probably often the result of starting it later than the 72 hour window or not taking it every day or correctly.  Your risk was pretty low with a one time condom break.  If you elected to take pep, you have to think positive.  And ruminating if you'll end up with HIV after doesn't help anything. The odds are in your favor that you will NOT have HIV when you do finally test.  focus on that and stay busy until it's time to test.

You already know that a condom break puts you at risk if that is what happens and this is why you went on PEP.  I'm not sure what question is here.  Follow the testing guidelines when you've finished PEP.  But one time condom break or unprotected sex is a low risk, in general.  But there is no question here that I can find.  You are already on PEP because a condom break puts you at risk.  Talk to your doctor about when you come back and test.

I’m only requesting incite regarding the risk. Have you heard of PEP not working?
