Repeatedly reactive (false positive) hiv cmia test using abbott architect

Are there really unfortunate people who keeps on getting (reactive) false positive results with a cmia hiv test using an abbott architect machine?

We have tried the same blood specimen with other 2 4th gen. Test as what the WHO new testing algorithm says. We used sysmex hiscl antigen antibody combo and Vidas Hiv Duo Ultra and the results were negative. We have also done pcr test and no virus was detected. The doctor said it was a false positive result.

After 6 weeks without any exposure we tried again with the architect and still it was reactive but the others were still negative. The patient was known to have chronic hereditary eczema that causes severe itchiness and open wounds. The spouse also tested since these started and it was all negative with rapid ict and architect also. It was just confusing. Are there anyone here with the same experience?

Thank you so much for the answers

May also ask when you told the lab that all other tests are negative isnt it about time they fix the machine when you showed them all your negative results to the lab who did abbot tests what did they say ?

I'm sure they said sorry ?

No skin condition effects test results it does not matter she had eczema !

Maybe if she is pregnant then we'll you rarely get a false positive but that's about it actually

Hi there no did you try the western blot after that also ?

Surely it is false positive . Other 4th gen showed it's negative so it's okay . Try running a western blot undoubtedly that should be negative also

Hello! The national reference laboratory here in the Philippines did not push thru with the western blot anymore because they said as per the WHO algorithm, any reactive screening test will be first run with 2 other 4th gen test, if at least one will be reactive then they will go with the more tedious work of western blot but since none were reactive they did not push thru anymore and declared it as negative... by the way all of these were done 4 months after possible exposure with the husband who is also negative. I just dont get the reason why up until now 8 months after... still it gets reactive with abbott architect but negative with the others. We even tried the fujibio kit for hiv 1/2 twice yesterday and it was also negative.

The doctor said its just because of the machine but this architect I think is the most widely used machine on earth.. It's just so frustrating because we're trying to migrate but since this machine keeps on getting reactive we can't push thru with our medical papers.
Finally you did vidas ultra antigen /antibody along with other tests so surely surely it's okay

8months ? Maximum 8weeks just for antibody

3months for ora quick

3months only if you took PEP that's about it actually

So you must I think relax and surely your doctor is right because you have done repeated tests
