Risk of Exposure From Stepping On A Needle?

The other day I was walking down the road and suddenly got a very sharp scratch on my foot. I was was wearing leather work shoes at the time, I initially thought it must of been a stone so took my shoes off and there was nothing in there.

Could this of been a needle which has gone through the bottom of my shoe and if so has there ever been any known cases of infection in this way?

What are the chances of infection?

Many Thanks

There used to be a lot of hysteria about contracting HIV from needles, I remember a famous Iron Man in Australia having to be tested because he stepped on a needle at a beach, but considering that HIV can only oast outside a host for 2 minutes, what was the issue. This is just a statement by the way, no need for an answer.

Thank you for your reply.

Are you saying that its not possible to contract HIV from stepping on a infected needle?

The chances of infection are 0 (zero)! You did not contract HIV!

On the other hand, it seems the chance of having infected yourself with irrationality and paranoia are near 100%! Consult a mental health professional if these psychological issues persist.

I hope my answer relieves you a little bit.
