Hi Vance,
Thanks a lot. I will try to test as soon as I get time as I am way overdue.

3 months after medication finished is when to test.
Hi guys,
to update you on this. I diddn't complete my prescription as I was scared to take them to Abu Dhabi.
Anyways I tested when I came back 5 weeks and 4 days and result came back negative. The dR. told me to come back in 2 months but I should be ok.
Do you think I need to go again and re-test?
Thansk and Regards,
FWK
We can't answer those questions.
Hi again,
I am on my 16th day of PEP. I have contacted the guy I have been with and he was apologetic for all this and the fact that I had to go on PEP when I diddn't need to. He went to test yesterday and came back negative, he also confirmed he hasn't been with anyone for 6 months (this guy is older in age).
The last 4 days I have to be in UAE (Abu dhabi).
My problem is that the Drs (3 of them) wouldn't issue letter to enter PEP medication into UAE. Terrence higgins specifies that it is one of the countirs where u could be deported and not allowed if caught with any.
All drs told me to smuggle them (put them in vitamin bottles)...
Should I take the risk? knowing that the guy is negative and we are still talking.
My question is if I miss the last 4 days (3 pills of truvada and 6/7 of raltegravir), would that be a problem?
Thanks and Regards,
FWK
Hi Shaunw84,
I will bring a note and try to notorise it with the foreign department in UK. I was planning to speak to them this week to ask for a letter but might wait until 19th when i have my 2 week tests.
I will try to contact the UAE embassy to approve also...but in the meantime today will tell the guy that I am on PEP and see what he says...
I will keep you updated.
Thanks and Regards,
FWK
I know this is difficult. But do what ever you can to do all 28 days of PEP and not miss any.
I think if you have to get a note from the doctor to carry with you.
Be well
Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for this. I actually went to the clinic, got PEP (truvada 200mg and Raltegravir 400mg), also done hiv prick test which was negative. Dr was helpful and explained everything for me. He also said best thing is as u guys suggest, ask him test but also if he is clear 6 weeks back also, but that also depends on trust.
On my side i don't wanna embarrass him as twice he told me not to worry.
My main problem and hesitation was because the PEP should be taken for 28days (confirmed today) but i am flying to abu dhabi (UAE) on 29th jan and need to take PEP for last 3 days, but not sure if the meds are banned in that country, i explained all this to the dr. He said i can miss last few days only if i can't get the meds there but preferable take full dose best. I just checked banned drugs in UAE and they r not listed, but will call and check.
We wanted to use a condom but none of us had, we were just into each other thats all...sorry.
I took first two pills earlier at clinic and will continue until 28th at least...also clinic told me i have to go for 2 week test of other organs just in case. already made those tests today results tmr....
Anything else you guys suggest I should know?
Regards,
FWK
yes u need to get the PEP or contact the clinic ...shaunw84 is rite ....follows what he say ...and if possible get the person to test for his hiv status ...rapid test should give u results within hour and ask about his recent sex activites and get it done in clinic, and see the result ...
Next time please use condom .....
Hi,
Thanks for that, he said teice not to worry but he was only visitbf so not sure if he did anything else recently.
Thanks and regards,
FWK
No one will lie about his status, unless he was infected and doesn't know yet. Go to the clinic and discuss it with a doctor he will advice you.
You only have 72 hrs after the exposure. And even then the value falls off quickly, so every hours is important.
Remember MSM who are at much great risk for HIV. Also it's estimated that 20% of the population that has HIV does not know it. If he can't say he's been tested and knows he doesn't have it, you shouldn't simply rely on an assurance.
Be well.
